http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/europe/05/05/london.chocolate.bars.reut/index.html Woman buys 10,000 Mars bars, drives off in limo Wednesday, May 5, 2004 Posted: 1:24 PM EDT (1724 GMT) LONDON, England (Reuters) -- A woman with an apparently insatiable sweet tooth stunned staff at a British shop when she bought more than 10,000 chocolate bars and had them loaded into her chauffeur-driven limousine. The woman asked staff at a north London Woolworths branch for every single Mars bar in stock -- 10,656 of them packed in 220 boxes -- and paid for them in cash with 50 pound notes, a Woolworths spokesman said on Wednesday. The total bill was 2,131 pounds ($3,828). "It was very, very strange but nobody thought to ask her why she wanted so many," the spokesman said. "It would usually take us a month to shift that number of chocolate bars," he added. "Perhaps she has a sweet tooth."
10,000 Reese's? Yuck. I like them all right, but if I eat more than one it makes me nautious(sp?). I'd go with Twix.
There are nuts everywhere, so the story doesn't surprise me. What surprises me is the fact that stores actually have that large an inventory of 1 candy bar. Hmm....
Sometimes you feel like a nut! There's no wrong way to eat a Reese's. (isn't that how it went?) Mars may be a different matter, though.
then quit jumping to conclusions about her. who cares? it must have been a helluva slow day for this to be news
Well I can eat a lot at a buffet or at lunch or dinner or whatever and I don't get that sick feeling in my stomach like I do when I eat, say a half dozen Krispy Kremes.
I assume it's because you're overloading your blood sugar with simple sugars, which go into the bloodstream immediately. That other stuff at the buffet takes longer to break down and can enter your system gradually. Not that you really wanted to know that.
I never get sick when I eat a lot of sweet foods in one sitting... and TRUST me... I've been known to commonly put back a ton of cookies, cakes, and ice cream in one sitting.
