I don't think Gordon is going anywhere. Good contract and he still has ability. Will be a good veteran to pair with all of the youth next year.

The best option Houston is is for Wood, Wall and Dipo to all be healthy playing and we have a run of 9 games where we as a team look good again. We just lost 13 in a row, I think we can afford to go 4-4 and compete before going full tank mode.

Hopefully KPJ helps on this end too. If they are serious about playing him PG it means Oladipo will always be the 2 guard, where he is more suited, and they won’t be forcing him to do too much like they have been

Ive always sort of assumed that since Wall is likely unmovable at this point, Stone wouldn’t just give away EGo unless he gets maximum value for him so next year there’s a happier Wall and Wood who will have some motivation to start the season.

Given the opportunity, I’m sure Stone would clean house, but the Wall contract and the personal respect for the person/player is a big reason to at least keep a player like Gordon around next season.

If they can move Wall though I think that guarantees you need to move Gordon too. You are truly tanking next season at that point.

Oh nahhh we’re getting something in return for PJ - even if it’s a couple 2nd rounders

Im intrigued with Precious from MIA more so than Robinson who is due $$$. Achiuwa has a 7'1 wingspan who could play the 4 next to Wood. He isnt much of a shooter yet (if ever), but could be the inside guy cleaning up the boards, playing tough D and catching lobs while Wood roams. PLUS he's Nigerian (corny I know).

    2022 Lineup

    KPJ
    Jalen Green(in this scenario)
    J Tate
    Achiuwa
    Wood

    Wall
    Lamb
    Armoni Brooks
    Patton
    KMJ
    House?
    EG?

No kidding and the West is loaded with all star guards and up and coming stars. How will Herro ever make an all star team? It took Mike Conley like 12 years to make one and he's a much better player than Herro.

gotta pull a Harden type trade... decide which young'un the team is willing to invest in as he completes his rookie deal and make a trade with the intention of paying big bucks on a new contract to retain the player going forward...

I agree with you..... if Oladipo can play the next 8 games and play well, they likely will greatly increase the interest teams have in him at the deadline.

Which is what I think Clutch mentioned. This'll be the time for these players to shine (they can't want to be "stuck between the Scylla and Charybdis"----Houston).

I think we saw some of that "gotta get mine, you get yours" from Wall and Oladipo, who both put up nice numbers a week ago in yet another loss (Wall had 4 assists, I think Dipo had 1 or 2? blech).

not too many Hardens lurking under the radar for us to snatch up again. Hoping we lucked into something close in KPJ.

...the only other safe bet (to be a future suprstar) is Jaylen Brown or Brandon Ingram and neither team is giving them up.

I am VERY pleased to hear this. Rockets need to use their potential cap space to bring in bad contracts for assets.

Can Oladipo average 30 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists on 60%TS over the next eight games while leading the team to 4 wins to raise his value?

No, he can’t. But it’s nice to dream.

The frustrating thing over the years about Morey is that he is supposed to be great at finding undervalued players. And we had been hungering through eternity for some elite shooters. Yet he let undrafted players and second rounders like Duncan Robinson, Joe Harris, Gary Trent (even a guy like VanVleet) slip away and gave away big money to Ryan Anderson and Eric Gordon.

You forgot, "Then stapled first round picks to get rid of such contracts."
Oh, and, "And gave up on players too soon as he cycled them through, watching them blossom elsewhere."
Oh! yeah, and, so on and so forth.....

Enough of this. I would trade Dipo and PJ for Herro, Olynyk, and Meyers Leonard right now. That would give you Wall, Porter, Jr., Herro, Gordon, House, Tate, Martin, Jr., Olynyk, Wood, and Patton as 10 guys who can play.
