Odorizzi obviously struggled last year...what are his projections this year? His career stat line is impressive but not overwhelmingly so...will Keuchel put up better #s? I wonder if we’d be in a better spot if we kept him

If, at the outset of the offseason, you told us that we would ink Brantley, Odorizzi, Castro, Baez, Stanek, Cichek, and Souza...I’d think most fans would jump all over that. Two ~top 10 FAs (albeit the Odorizzi signing clearly in response to Framber’s injury) and the rest is low risk, relatively low cost bargain bin hunting. Interested to see the final details of Odorizzi’s deal, but the Click/Crane hate group out there may be awfully quiet for a while. Sounds like Odorizzi’s FB direly needs to stay in the 92-94 range, but hopefully he is at worst a stopgap to help our young arms slot into place over time, and at best a legit front end starter.

Now a few weeks later Astros would have been in a bad spot if they had gone close to the luxury tax on Bradley Jr. or a closer like Rosenthal.

    Glad Click’s patience paid off.

Seven starters im confident in Grienke, Odorizzi, McCullers, Urquidy, Javier, Abreu, Garcia

Hopefully Pruitt, Valdez, JV are quick healers.

Would love too have 4-5 of these guys on the playoff bullpen.

If we had Keuchel would Valdez ever have been given a real chance? Keuchel got a huge contract and Valdez is making 425,000

Considering his breakout was last year and we were running single A pitchers, I'd say he'd be given a chance

Montana Astros fan trying to catch up a bit.

What is the likely rotation this year? Is Verlander coming back or is that up in the air?

    Thanks to whomever responds. :)

Greinke, McCullers, Odorizzi, Urquidy, Javier, maybe not in that exact order. Framber Valdez hasn't been officially ruled out for the season, but it doesn't look good.

And no on Verlander, even though he says he's gonna try.

And to think some people still have the audacity to call Jim Crane “cheap”. We should be extremely thankful for Mr. Crane. He has kept his word, spent money when he needed to spend- and SMARTLY. Best owner in Houston sports( I know that’s not saying a lot) by FAR

Yep. Say what you want about his character otherwise (he’s certainly got flaws), but he has been everything a fan could dream of as far as being competitive and smart. He has spent as much money as reasonably possible and has hired smart executives to build the roster.

Is he possibly the best owner in Houston sports history?

I think it could be a fair debate. Les Alexander was a great owner as well, IMO. He brought two championships. He also spent, signed off on big trades, never tanked, and kept the Rockets competitive for many, many years. If I had to say right now, Les gets the nod...
But by the time the Crane Era is over, it might not even be close. I’m very optimistic about Crane making sure we field a competitive team for many, many years to come

I think you're right...even if Les shouldn't really get credit for the first one as he had just taken over. It's close and I expect that Crane will surpass him with another title.
