There was a guy like you in the Renaissance upset about the invention of the printing press reducing the artistry of the illiluminated manuscript to the crass mass production of the printing press and was a step back.

There was a guy like you around 1800 complaining that the industrial revolution took all the skill and artisanry out of the production of consumer goods and was a step back.

There was a guy like you when child labor laws were introduced that claimed it was a step back and keeping kids out of hard work would turn them into poppenjays. Who even knows what a poppenjay is today?

Learn to roll with it. You are adrift in the sea of time. Every rise and fall of the waves isn't a portent of the end of the world. Pepe le Pew is the very definition of ephemera. Kids today care about it as much as you cared about The Katzenjammer Kids comics when you were a kid in the 80s. In 50 years nobody without a serious interest in media history will even know who the character was.

Not down with cancel culture per se; as the woke peeps take can it too far.

That said, I hated Pepe when I was a kid. Even back then, he oozed rapey vibes. Good riddance.

 

It's in B&W and reruns of older than old shows aren't really a thing anymore.

I have a little theory about reruns of classic shows. If young kids are able to watch them, ie it's not too boring for them to ignore. it might help them develop empathy and consider people will have different ways of life, pov.

 

Pepe Le Pew regularly committed sexual assault. Dude really shouldn’t be available for kids to watch.

Also the “it was okay when I was a kid” doesn’t mean anything, the world changes... we now aren’t cool with Birth of a Nation or Mickey Rooney playing someone Chinese in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

 

birth of a nation was controversial when it was released. it pretty much ruined the director's career.

 

The whole joke about pepe is that his actions demonstrate a hyperbole of unacceptable actions. Ppl need to put the pitchforks down. Address the outrage addiction.

 

Birth of a Nation was the highest grossing movie ever after it’s release and held the position for 25 years. It was a massively popular movie and was a favorite of President Woodrow Wilson.

The movie was the most popular and liked movie in America for decades. There were academics and scholars me special interest groups that protested the movie, but it got them no where by their own account.

It didn’t ruin his career. He had a number of successful movies after that point. His problem was the very high cost of production compared to other movies.
