Of course it's rhetoric. This is the post you originally responded to and criticized:

Good to see you've come around.

So when Bernie uses it to describe what he is engaging in, it's... ?

Then Bernie is using it out of context and doesn't understand that he's hurting his causes by using that language.

I mean multiple times I've explicitly stated how I disagree with some of Bernie's rhetoric such as using the term "democratic socialism". Sure a nuanced audiance would understand the difference between "socialism" and "social democracy" but not the general public especially in a country where a large segment have been brainwashed since birth to reactively fear any term that uses "social" in it.

Sure, but I think that's missing the forest for the trees about the meaning. Class warfare is constantly being used in politics so I don't find anything particularly special about that even if you are technically right about the question asked. It's like asking why politicians lie.

The Democratic party has been historically the working class party. If anything, it's moving back towards the norm. Meanwhile the GOP is also trying to become the new working class party and is doing quite well.

too bad that you use this intellectually dishonest / piecemeal article as a reference.

the article conveniently assumes that there will be no impact on the economy / GDP; thus, the simple math of dividing the $1.9 trillion by the estimated # of taxpayers

the whole purpose of the stim package has been to kill the vaccine in order to grow the economy/GDP faster to the pre-pandemic level and then even bigger

in addition to checks/loans to taxpayers, the stim package will also fund more distribution / admin of vaccine shots towards getting every adult vaccinated by end of May

because of this vaccination, there'll be
    • re-opening of restaurants, concerts, theatres, amusement parks, sporting events, etc. , generating additional sales / payroll tax revenue to the Gov
    • more travel, leading to more tax revenue from hotels, airlines, cruises and gasoline purchases
because of this pick up in business activities, there will be more employment
    • more payroll tax revenue to the gov
    • less unemployment compensation at the state level
in view of this additional tax revenue and more employment, it'd not be far-fetched to say that, the GDP will grow by more than the cost of the stimulus package.

btw, why didn't this half-assed author do a similar half-assed analysis on the Trump's tax cut, the largest one ever, for the top 1%

So other than the $15 min wage (which was dead due to a parliament rule), Biden got the package he wanted. Not bad.

Pretty much this. While Biden did campaign on the $15 min. wage I don't recall him saying that should be part of COVID-19 relief and he is still pushing for it to be implemented through other means.

Listening to Sen. John Barrasso third ranking Senate Republican. He's saying that as the bill get's rolled out more Americans will turn against it because of the pork in it. That and that this is a "Blue State Bailout" are the attack lines that they are going to use and likely use going into 2022. My own feeling is that these are pretty weak attacks that most Americans don't care about. I get the feeling that this bill will actually get more popular as it get's rolled out.

How do you un-brainwash people without talking about it? Using the term until it becomes common knowledge?
I grew up in a world where anything 'gay' was unspeakable, now two people of the same sex can legally get married.

You keep expressing truth and you eventually achieve understanding. And I do think we have reached a change in the pendulum of public opinion.

It's becoming more apparent that GOP astroturfing and gaslighting do not serve the public interests:
Covid denial, Texas Freeze, January 6th insurrection, opposition to this relief package, Kashoggi's murder and Trump's obsession with dictators,
voter restrictions, The Trump tax cuts and massive deficit increases

In Texas, the blue cities have been bailing out the red state forever.

Will lose support among Republican so it will have a lot of downward pressure, but that doesn’t really matter for 2022. What matter is covid, economy and normalcy. Looking good on those fronts. Partisan grievances, complaining and faux outrage gets old and tiring. People will just tune out expect for some Republican.

Wait until individuals start benefitting of the child tax credit. It’s a pretty big ****ing deal in my opinion and it needs to be talked about more.

Oh... I've already seen the "Biden Lied" because the stimulus phases completely out at $80,000 instead of $100,000 posts.

No I never said that's something we agree on or at least it was not about Billionaires should not exist it was probably about other things in the post or the sentiment of the post.

I have never thought that Billionaires should not exist.

I have thought it meant they should be executed, I have no idea why you went there.

My issue is that if you are a billionaire some feel that that automatically makes you evil or unfit to be a politician since everything you would do would be in service to grow wealth personally and other wealthy people.

I really have no idea why you brought up Jews or people being massacred because nobody is arguing about that point or thinks that's what people are saying at least I don't.

    This.

Unlike the ACA which had an effect on most people and there insurance plans, this does not really affect anybody personally and benefits the majority of voters, it's hard to get people riled up about it.

This not something they can create that same amount of outrage with, people were actually having to switch doctors which was a huge issue.
