yeah he definitely knows neither are the missing piece. but when you look around at who you can sign with that cap space, they are near the top of a weak FA pool. if it doesn't cost you anything but cap space, its a good move because it makes them better, even if they won't be good enough to get past the nets.

I don't think we would get anything back in return for wall but better contracts. that might be enough anyway.

What if Boogie asked out because he knew Wall was getting a trade and he’s waiting to sign until he knows where it’s going to be? They chose to come to Houston together and despite Boogie not blowing the lid off stuff, the buyout still felt weird. Even weirder the roster spot wasn’t filled, allowing for 2 for 1 deals which would clearly be needed for a Wall trade.

Certainly a path towards it.... trading away Dipo, Tucker, and possibly House/BMac/Gordon for low FRPs and mostly expirings will net us more pick currency. We could possibly have 4 or more FRP this draft and we can attach a pick to move John Wall. Also, if we were smart than our books are filled with a lot of expirings to be able to absorb a bad a contract from the Wall trade while still be flexible/predatory.

Riley is not stupid enough to take on Walls contract. The only reason we did it was because we had an equally bad contract and Washington was willing to attach a FRP.

I don't know, but you can certainly envision the Heat & Rockets talking about Victor, then Riley shifting the conversation to Wall. Either way it's probably a good bet that one of the two is on the Heat roster by the deadline.

How about both? They go all in this year and next. We get Precious for Dipo and while having to take on Dragic (who is still pretty decent) and Leonard as backup for next year. Still tanking and 2 moveable contracts.

wall fits their culture. He’s Selfless and a hard worker and cares more about his team than himself. Harden has none of those qualities.

I'm telling yall it's not stupidity, but desperation.

Jimmy is 31, they can't wait for the perfect guy to fall into their lap. Giannis is off the table, so their only hope outside of some random player asking out is to take a gamble on a guy like Wall or Oladipo and hope these guys play better than one might expect.

At the end of the day, Heat's window right now is closed and I bet Pat would like to open it if even a little bit. Oladipo might be the better option for them because of his contract at least and he wants to be there.

Also, times change. At the start of the year people thought Herro was some blossoming star that had all-star potential, and now that the season has played out it turns out he...might not be that, he might just be a really good role player you have on your team like Seth Curry or EGO.

The Nets dominating in the regular season as they have is going to make a lot of teams desperate to make moves they should not make. Desperate moves (like the westbrook trade for example) is all these teams can make to try and keep their window open to win with aging stars.

Also to add, Wall's value isn't what it was at the start of the season. Remember, people wondered if he could even play! He's still athletic, he can still play, he can still 'get buckets' as we say and lead a game in scoring. So now his value isn't "Well, this guy might not even play." but "Maybe this guy has a lot more in the tank..."

Nobody is talking about this enough. Several teams were rumored to be interested in Boogie. Yet, he hasn’t signed.

Something similar to this already happened in the organization with Russ knowing Harden was out and asking for a trade. So I wouldn’t be surprised one bit.

Instead of attaching pick to move Wall, just bundle the 3 FRP and move up to get Cade Cunningham.

Wasn't this goal the whole point for tanking?

Harden was Riley's chance and he missed that opportunity. Now, the question is whether anything in the market can get him back in contention this year? The interesting difference is that the league's top teams are more fluid this year then in others. Adding 2-3 difference makers could change the landscape.

Does Riley see any of Wall, Oladipo, Gordon, Tucker, House or Nwaba (when he returns) as the kind of difference makers the Heat need in the playoffs. As fans we don't see it, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

This was the dilemma when the Heat traded off their draft picks and could only trade players for space to be able to get Butler. Teams like we were with Ryno get desperate as they run out of good options.

That is why I think it is more important we trade Dipo to Knicks. I don't want to deal with Heat unless Riley is out of options and has to take Wall.

I would expand that trade if possible.

Players like Iggy, Dragic and Olynyk have value to teams that are trying to win THIS season.

I don’t see a benefit to attaching picks to move players at this point. We have our own pick the next couple of years so there’s no incentive to rush the rebuilding process. Plus salaries like Gordon’s and Wall’s will turn into net positive assets in a year. We’re not signing big free agents to compete at this point. So what’s the point of paying someone to take Wall? Hes played most of the games and we still have a bottom 3 record. Off-load him for expirings, sure, maybe even include a 2nd or the Detroit pick that will never convey, but no reason to give up a legit 1st rounder to move him.

    holy ****.

Herro is being mentioned for both Oladipo and Wall?

Guys, any slander I've ever said on Herro during the Harden talks are gone. If the Rockets wind up with him and don't have to send any assets outside of Wall or Oladipo, I'm going to be the happiest poster on this forum.

I love you dude but never in a million years. If this Wall thread idea does not materialize this year it is far more likely during the summer or trade deadline next year we trade Wall to Knicks and he resigns an extension with them with smaller numbers on future years to even out the impact of that final year.

Hey, Wall mentioned several times this year that he’d play this game for free. You never know ;)

Still not a fan. Herro next to Porter does nothing for me.

Rather move Herro to 3rd team for a FRP, bundle all our FRP and trade up for Cade.

Herro is a negative defender, overrated scorer and is another guard on a team full of guards.

EGo is much better complement to Porter IMO.

Vet presence, lockdown defender and is not an alpha wannabe.
