Yup especially now when he knows it takes depth to win now more than ever. He knows that better than anyone at this point, which is one of the reasons he’s gone

Well.....Cleveland didn't let go and LeBron came back. You never know in this business. Especially if a player has a "real love" for the City.

Same thing with Wade for that matter.

Right, but LeBron was from Akron. Harden's from L.A.

Fleeting meaning. Nothing fleeting about it. It means the same thing is always has. A long shot! You know like Vince McMahon No Chance in Hell. This cinderella story doesn't have a happy ending though.

The obvious answer is ‘Depends on...’.

The LeBron comparison doesn’t hold water. LeBron is from Ohio, Harden is from SoCal. LeBron took the Cavs to the finals, Harden never got us there.

So it depends on if it is best for our team at the time were that option to present itself.

If Harden can still perform at a high level and we have pieces that can compliment him so we can win a title then I say Yes! We'll cross that road when we get there.

You said "Caldarella scenario". Did you mean "Cinderella scenario"? That spelling just didn't point me to Cinderella if that's what you meant.

NOW I see what you meant. It really is a dreaming sort of idea for Harden to come back here and play. But like you point out, how would he act if he came back? Would he mess up what we've got going?

I'd take him back if he took a significant pay cut to be here again. That would be enough to show me he wants to be here and for the right reasons. He'd be older then and we're bound to have a younger better talent by that time if things go right for us.

Right, but Harden has repeatedly called "Houston home" and has many businesses here. His affinity for the city is pretty extraordinary.

Yes, we definitely should take Harden back unless you just don't like bball.

The real question is more can we get Harden back? There is a lot of ifs for something like this to happen but it is quite possible. If Nets don't win chip after next year I see 2022 FA as more superteam musical chairs. I think Harden and KD will want to stick together as they play together naturally and will be kingmakers. NY and LA will be occupied so they likely search for a new team with assets that can carry them in later years. Can the Rockets compile the assets to be attractive? That is the point of these trades, tanking, and subsequent trades to take on bad contracts. When you are in the basement and a contending team needs to do something there is gold to be picked up off the ground. If you are having trouble clearing two max slots, Nets would be more than willing to help if they are losing 3 stars and rebuilding to get back SOME of their assets.

I don't put this as probable but possible. We NEED a lot of things to go our way whether we are getting back Harden, someone else, or even having to rebuild for further years. It doesn't affect our plans but does point out we need at least 6-7 more players for a team. Everything we do should be focused around attacking 2022 FA. If we fail there, continue with the current plan to acquire assets until we can make use of FA.

We won't need him in 2 years. KPJ will have taken over by then.

Lol, your sarcasm is too subtle, considering a lot of people on this board actually say/believe these things.
