This is why I seldom wear a watches worth several hundred thousand dollars.

 

A watch worth several hundred thousand dollars is disgusting.

 

There is a lot of income inequality in Los Angeles and the pandemic and shut down has only made it worse. The famous and rich get too comfortable and because they are in the USA believe that nothing will ever happen to them... they walk down streets with people living in tents and they drive $250,000 cars with poverty feet from them... yet they have no fear because of the stability of the USA.... the hubris.

I don’t care where you are, and who you are but if you are fully comfortable wearing a $200,000 watch and have no fear, then you are divorced from reality.... while it is “just a watch” to the wearer, that is a house to someone else... I am surprised it doesn’t happen more often. Historically those poor in the USA may not like being in poverty, but they believed in the social order and larger system. The world is changing, not sure that is the case now.... I wonder how long before we start seeing all these places have heavily armed security as I have seen in Europe and the rest of the world.

 

You don’t have to live in the poor part of town in Los Angeles for there to be poor people. There are a number of homeless people in BH. The police try to keep them out, but they cannot.

 

I had a penchant for nice watches at one point and have a few in the range of a nice used car. SoCal completely broke me of wearing these to the point where I’ve considered selling them. You have to be a complete moron to run around LA with something like that on your person.

While I loved living in SoCal, the income inequality is so in your face that it can be depressing. It’s an amazing place to live if you can afford it.

 

People can come to a bad end inside restaurants.

 

Oh, I understand that it is not unique to California. Inequality is a national epidemic that can be seen in every where. I think it is harder to ignore in Cali because the gap seems wider. Super ultra wealth and power is directly next to third world style poverty.

 

Have you ever been to LA? Beverly Hills isn’t some island paradise cut off from the city.

 

I am in my 40s but I think I could pass for 20s in this situation with a mask. I can hurdle tables and likely still run a 4.5 40.
