Regardless of one's symptoms, the vaccine is 94.5% effective.

Drove to CVS in Livinston for my vaccine yesterday. They werent very organized, bit of a cluster allowing folks with 11am appts to go ahead of those with 10am appts. Regardless in and out in about an hour.

It’s alarming how many people suddenly have a health condition that allows them to slot into the 1B category. America becoming so unhealthy. Poor diet I suppose.

There’s nothing sudden about it, over 40 percent of Americans are obese.

Obviously some people are breaking the rules but there’s a **** ton of people that fall into high risk.

If you remove the kids about 50-52% of the population count are 1b.

One of the biggest risk factors is weight and most Americans are overweight. Probably why we have a a such a high death rate.

I know a lot of younger people starting to get the shot because they are overweight (apparently obese is less overweight than I thought), have things like hypertension, etc. I feel like they should just open it up to everybody at this point and quit trying to be "precise".

Over the past 2 weeks the 65 and up age groups have seen pretty good progress with vaccinations

The percentage of the 65-74 ages with 1 shot has gone from 29% to 43%
The percentage of 75+ with 1 shot has gone from 48% to 61%

This puts the total of 65+ at just over 50% getting at least 1 shot

Was absolutely impressed at the logistics of the vaccination site yesterday, in the mall setting that the WSJ wrote about a few weeks ago. Twenty people every five minutes, for ten hours straight. And to think the mega-sites are ramping up to do 10,000+ doses per day, just an amazing mobilization of effort.

article in the NYT this morning about the mega-sites

No 3rd arm or anything? ;).

Getting mine on the 9th and 29th. Taking the next day off work just in case. Pfizer as well.

Houston Health has a separate waitlist for the J&J vaccine vs the others. There is little restriction in signing up and they will text when you are eligible.

I signed up this afternoon and my wife just got her text for an appointment tomorrow (she’s eligible).

    Ehh, still not eligible.

Getting pressure from folks to get the shot despite my ineligibility. Their policing of eligibility is shite. But I'm stubborn and won't be jumping the line. Even though the line is more like a crowd of people elbowing each other to get to the front.

My understanding is the policing is zero. It’ll probably open up to anybody within the month.

Maybe this is their polite way to ask you to quit removing your mask when you sneeze.

Orange is now open to general public, as well. It's a drive, but if you're willing, it works. No residency requirements.
