Foetus Interruptus aka Foetus aka Jim Thirlwell - Thaw Nurse with Wound - Homotopy to Marie The Foetus album is brilliant - it's only the 2nd one I have after "Nail" but this is what pure aggressive industrial music should sound like. Puts guys like NIN and Marilyn Manson to shame. The Nurse with Wound album is, um, different. Very weird and somewhat exhausting to listen but I think that is Steve Stapleton's (the guy behind Nurse with Wound) idea.
Just finished Thaw....above statement is giving me second hand embarrassment. I guess if you wanted industrial to turn punk it's pure raw whatever. I'll take any song on Pretty Hate Machine over any song on Thaw.
I understand where you are coming from. I saw Trent live several years back at Bonnaroo (my hometown is there) and I was underwhelmed. I probably caught him on a bad night but I guess I have always been a little salty about that. With that being said, "Pretty Hate Machine" and "The Downward Spiral" are great albums - "The Fragile" is OK but a little overbloated and then the stuff after that - I'm not feeling it. My statement on "Thaw" is somewhat hyperbolic but hearing harsh, experimental, weirdo music gets me excited (I love Captain Beefheart for goodness sake!). But it is all a matter of taste - I'm that one person in the room out of 10 that wouldn't leave when Trout Mask Replica is being played.
I get you. I've never met anyone else that likes Bjork Gling Glo. What's not to like about a shrieking pixie doing big band music?! There is probably also something in comparing bands that makes objectivity difficult/impossible. There was a post on a metal thread talking about grammy awards and Poppy was mentioned.... I might have liked Poppy, but because I compared my current fav band Jinjer I don't think I could give her a fair shake. It might be a permanent bias.

Was checking out Buck's star wars starry night on unsorted while listening to it. Sounds quite fitting.
