Again, there is such a marked and distinct difference between the reaction of Democrats when these allegations surface against Cuomo vs. The reaction of Republicans when allegations surface against one of their party. A very clear distinction.
They got a third girl now ! Still got a ways to catch up to Cosby dang Cuomo DGAF https://nypost.com/2021/03/01/cuomo-sexual-harassment-accusers-express-support-for-anna-ruch/ Ruch, 33, a former Biden 2020 campaign worker, told The New York Times that the governor made unwanted advances toward her after they met at a Big Apple wedding in 2019.
I don't really follow Chris Cuomo but did find it odd and cringeworthy much of his coverage of his brother during COVID-19. It makes ethical sense he wouldn't cover his brother now but I think he probably should've stepped back from covering and especially interviewing his brother in general before.
"Cuomo to Be Stripped of Pandemic Emergency Powers in Legislative Deal": https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/pol...emergency-powers-in-legislative-deal/2919491/ excerpt: Legislators from New York's Assembly and state Senate struck a deal Tuesday to strip Gov. Andrew Cuomo of his pandemic-linked emergency powers and return matters like lockdowns to local control. The deal would reverse emergency powers granted to Cuomo exactly a year ago, in the early days of the COVID pandemic, that gave him free rein to order measures like quarantines. “I think everyone understands where we were back in March and where we are now. We certainly see the need for a quick response but also want to move toward a system of increased oversight, and review. The public deserves to have checks and balances. Our proposal would create a system with increased input while at the same time ensuring New Yorkers continue to be protected,” Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins said in a statement. Assemblymember Carrie Woerner tweeted the outlines of the widely reported deal Tuesday afternoon, saying it would: "repeal the extraordinary powers granted to the Governor last year" "provide for an orderly transition through the end of the disaster period" "Limit any further modifications to directives to that which is necessary to reduce the spread or increase vaccinations" "Restore the right of counties and municipalities to issue executive orders without seeking state approval" "Require the Governor to provide online reporting on all executive orders, providing transparency for all" Woerner said she understood a bill would be passed as early as this Friday. more at the link
Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday that “I feel awful” about the sexual harassment allegations against him but insisted, “I never touched anyone inappropriately.” Cuomo also said he was acting against legal advice to tell New Yorkers, “I now understand that I acted in a way that made people feel uncomfortable.” “It was unintentional and I truly and deeply apologize for it,” he said as his voice choked up. “I feel awful about it and frankly I am embarrassed by it and that’s not easy to say –but that’s the truth. https://nypost.com/2021/03/03/gov-andrew-cuomo-addresses-sexual-harassment-allegations/
Governor Shoots-Himself-in-the-Foot scores an own goal with the sexual harassment law that he pushed: https://freebeacon.com/democrats/cuomo-signed-law-lowering-the-bar-for-sexual-harassment/ excerpt: Before he was accused of sexual harassment, New York governor Andrew Cuomo (D.) signed a bill that dramatically lowered the bar for proving harassment claims—a bar his accusers would almost certainly clear. The bill, signed into law in 2019, says harassment need not be "severe or pervasive" to be considered unlawful; any action that rises above "petty slights and trivial inconveniences" can qualify. If a male supervisor makes a female employee uncomfortable by asking her out to lunch, one New York employment lawyer told the Washington Free Beacon, "that could be the basis for a claim." Cuomo is the latest liberal to fall prey to liberalism’s evolving standards of sexual misconduct. As more women have come forward in the face of the MeToo movement, more men have found themselves on the hook for behavior once deemed unobjectionable. Left-leaning figures, from Chris Matthews to Aziz Ansari to Neil deGrasse Tyson to Garrison Keillor, saw their careers falter or implode over ambiguous accusations, causing some to wonder whether MeToo had gone too far. If the bill he signed is any indication, Cuomo did not share those concerns. The governor’s alleged transgressions far exceed the standard set by the 2019 law. His first accuser, Lindsey Boylan, saidCuomo invited the former aide to play strip poker on a government plane, made suggestive allusions to Bill Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky, and kissed Boylan on the lips without her consent. His second accuser, Charlotte Bennett, said the governor indicated interest in a sexual relationship with her while she was working in his office as a health policy adviser. Bennett, who is 25, told the New York Times Cuomo asked her if she’d "ever been with an older man," adding that "age doesn’t matter" in relationships. The bill also eliminates a key defense Cuomo might have used in court. Under federal law, an employer can avoid liability if their employee never filed a formal complaint about the harassment. Neither Boylan nor Bennett filed such a complaint, though Bennett did relay her concerns to the governor’s chief of staff. But under the law Cuomo signed, the absence of formal complaints "shall not be determinative" of liability. An employee can win even if she did not avail herself of an internal grievance procedure. Cuomo’s office did not respond to a request for comment. more at the link
I just listened to Cuomo and while I'm undecided about whether he should resign at the moment his apologies don't seem that genuine and he definitely needs to do more if he wants to keep his job.
It would be hypocritical for me to condemn Cuomo after the Kavanaugh fiasco so I will reserve judgement. Believing all women sounds good but many women are wicked.
Christine BLasi Ford got a hearing and these women should also. Speaking personally I found her testimony problematic because she couldn't get corroboration. It's possible that the accusations against Cuomo also can't be corroborated but that shouldn't be determined yet and they should be able to state their accusations and what evidence they have. We shouldn't predecide that some women are just wicked and certainly not based on political bias.
I don't think someone like you has any room to b**** about Cuomo. Only logically consistent people do. Where were all these cartoons after 25+ women came forth saying Trump sexually harrased them?
No but he shouldn't have interviewed his brother a couple of months ago where they were joking with each other during a pandemic.
He was giving the governor of a state that was ravaged by the pandemic early on a platform to speak on what he needs for his people as well as providing information to keep NYers safe. Two things that the previous administration completely failed to do. Turns out Cuomo was a shady f*ck... but at the time there was more value in Andrew's briefings on CNN than there was at Trump's self-congratulatory promos he held every evening.
