warriors are currently out of the playoffs going into the all-star break with stephen curry playing all but 1 game this season
Can Patrick give them some pointers as consultant? LTS wants to play!! Cash considerations hoopin it up at the warriors d league.
I'm not saying CP3 isn't good. He obviously is but you take take everything in context. The Pelicans/Hornets sucked when he was there and had his best stats. The Clippers were perennial chokers and were not very good when Griffin was injured. In Houston, CP3 was the only legit star that Harden got to play with here. As we call can see with the Nets, you put any star next to Harden and they are legit contenders. Even a washed up and injured Dwight Howard got us to the WCF's. The OKC overachieved a little bit but that team did have an emerging Shawi Gilgeous-Alexander and Galinari who got the Clippers to the playoffs with Tobias Harris as his running mate. The Suns team won 10 our of 11 games in the bubble, so I think the Suns success this season has more to do with Booker and Ayton's maturity. CP3 still hasn't gotten out of the second round without Harden. So if I had to pick between Curry and CP3 in their prime, I would pick Curry all day, every day. He compliments other superstar players better than CP3 because he creates space for teammates and doesn't require dribbles to be effective. Can you even imagine a back court with Curry and Harden playing the same two man game Harden does with Kyrie and Harris.
Can somebody please tell me why Steph Curry and all his “gravity” and running around off-ball has the Warriors at just 22nd in the NBA in offensive efficiency and currently the 9th seed in the West? Surely someone who is a better playmaker than James Harden can have his team do much better than 22nd in offense right?
Harden surrounded by bricklayers never had his team down in the basement at 22nd in offensive efficiency the rest of the team outside of Curry shoots 46% from the field and 35% from 3...typical Rockets percentages during the Harden era Anymore weak excuses?
Sounds like you're running away from an argument you know you'll lose. You know that the more specific you are, the more vulnerable your idiotic takes become. That's why you're trying to speak in generalities.
Except percentages league wide have gone way up, and I believe the Warriors offense has a suboptimal shot distribution in terms of 3s vs 2s relative to the rest of the league. Perhaps playing that way on offense helps their defense some how. I think your overall point is a strong one, though. Harden, plus a system that is designed to maximize his strengths as a scorer/playmaker, seemingly guarantees you an above average offense even with mediocre offensive talent around him. The same can’t be said about Curry and Kerr’s system.
percentages league wide have been pretty stable the last several years average FG% starting in 17-18: 46, 46.1, 46, 46.5 average 3 point shooting: 36.2, 35.5, 35.8, and 36.8 so this is the best shooting season the past few years, but not by much or by anything very significant the Warriors are also 6th in 3 point attempts the Rockets were way below league average in field goal percentage the past 2 years 19-20: 22nd 18-19: 24th yet we were never anywhere close to bottom 10 in offense like Curry’s Warriors last year we shot 34.5% from three, and that was with Harden shooting 12.4 of them at 35.5%...the rest of the team shot 34% on threes which is worse than what Curry’s teammates are shooting So I’m wondering why Curry can’t produce Harden’s team results on offense if he’s the better playmaker like some claim. It’s not like Harden was working with supreme offensive talent in Houston.
Oh, interesting. I should have checked the numbers first. I didn’t realize they were 6th in 3s attempted. I basically agree with you. The Rockets did shoot way more 3s than any other team, and that’s a coaching/organization decision. I think that also plays into this. It’s a superb way of bolstering efficiency, particularly in the regular season and when you have quarterback like Harden directing things.
