Disney putting Offensive Content label on the Muppets

Not sure why these companies fold to the cry-baby victims. Who cares if they get upset and pout.

 

@tinman this thread is ultimate irony. We're in an era of the most explicit and offensive content in history. They wouldn't even film couples sharing a bed together in the past, for example, I Love Lucy. Mild cussing is permitted on network TV now, the full gambit on premium streaming channels. Video games allow you to slaughter thousands instead of just jumping around as an Italian plumber.

Watch a teenager get raped by an old man on HBO's Euphoria or a heroin addict shoot up on Intervention and tell me we live in soft times lol. Past programming was boring, safe, whitewashed nonsense. If humor involved depicting a Mexican character saying "taco taco, burrito, guacamole" to mimic Spanish, that's just lazy writing and who cares if they get slapped with a warning label?

 

The term Latinx is stupid, I agree. So is BIPOC because I think it minimizes black or Indigenous struggles by just them lumping them together. But I take no issue with companies putting parental advisories on old children's content that blatantly used tired stereotypes for humor instead of coming up with original content.

I am watching Aladdin with the kids and saw the warning about racism. It’s orientalist but it’s not really offensive compared to any other movie from the era from Disney.
