Example 1: Joe Biden sexually assaults Tara Reade, it is supported by contemporaneous evidence, Biden puts all remaining evidence under lock and key at the University of Delaware, media refuses to report on it.

Example 2: Hunter Biden is tasked with making his family rich using his father's connections, enters into lucrative, corrupt deals with Russian and Chinese assets, also becomes a part-time pornographer, media refuses to report on it.

Example 3: Andrew Cuomo plays around a little, asks a female professional to play strip poker, media pounces.

Only in Example 3 is a Democrat HELPED by the story (Kamala's 2024 run)... which is why the story runs. This is how the "trusted", "legacy" media works. It's a continuous, never-ending public relations campaign to advance objectives -- just like a corporation would undertake. Pursuing "earned media" to build brands and promote narratives.

"Mob Justice May Be Poetic Justice, But Cuomo Deserves Due Process":

    https://jonathanturley.org/2021/03/...oetic-justice-but-cuomo-deserves-due-process/

    excerpt:

Due process, like free speech, is rarely valued until its loss becomes personal. Take Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.). Cuomo advanced his political career by positioning himself at the front of every mob pursuing political rivals, as during Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing. Before hearing the defense of now-Justice Kavanaugh, Cuomo described the allegations against him by Christine Blasey Ford as presumptively true. He not only effectively called Kavanaugh a rapist, without any due process, but demanded that Kavanaugh take a polygraph as a condition to be believed.

Cuomo was not alone. Many Democratic leaders insisted that “women must be believed” when raising sexual harassment allegations and declared Kavanaugh guilty before hearing any testimony. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) dismissed due process concerns for Kavanaugh, adding: “When we talk about … due process and justice, it must focus on the victim.” Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) said Kavanaugh was not entitled to a presumption of innocence and that men should “just shut up” and accept the allegations.

    John Oliver rips Cuomo

"Even before the current scandals, there was something gross about Cuomo’s glee in his public adulation last year," Oliver said. "From his constant appearance with his brother on CNN to him cosigning on the term ‘Cuomosexuals’ — the only sexual orientation, by the way, it is completely acceptable to discriminate against."

The host also took aim at Cuomo’s book "American Crisis," which was released in October and covers his own leadership during what Oliver noted is the "still ongoing pandemic." The host joked that "presumably" the book reads "#1 Do press conferences. #2 The End."

Given that Cuomo has allegedly lied about some key facts regarding the virus' spread in New York, Oliver noted that some of the press conferences for which he received high praise now "play a little differently after everything we’ve learned," particularly his insistence on following facts.

"OK, the thing is, it’s hard to follow the facts if the people in charge of those facts are actively withholding them from you," he said. "As far as advice goes, it’s basically as useful as a bully saying, ‘stop hitting yourself’ in that in both cases, yeah, I’d really like to, the thing is some a-----e won’t let me!"

Oliver went on to lambaste the governor for leaning heavily on quotes from a man named "A.J. Parkinson" in his public addresses and played a brief video montage of the numerous times Cuomo invoked his name.

The host revealed that Parkinson is not actually a real person. He is a fictional character invented by Cuomo’s father, "Kevin Spacey cosplayer" Mario Cuomo, as a sort of inside joke with the press.

"While that may have been charming at the time, the current Cuomo doing it during a pandemic when virtually no one gets that it’s a joke is a pretty weird move," Oliver said.

He concluded: "Circulating fake quotes is obviously not the worst thing Cuomo has done, that is becoming increasingly clear, but it does feel like a pretty apt metaphor for an administration that has aggressively managed facts to fit its chosen reality. It actually brings to mind another insightful saying, ‘Andrew Cuomo is a colossal a-----e.’ It’s from an excellent writer named T.J. Pumpernickel and I’ll tell you exactly two things about T.J. Pumpernickel. One, he’s a person I just made up and two, he’s completely right about Andrew Cuomo."

Great episode all around, and that segment was awesome. Too bad he doesn't put the opening/intro stuff online, only the investigative segment (about police raids, worth a watch)

    I never had respect.

It was amusing that he was capable of getting Trump to shut up, but that was only because he was a bigger populist fascist than Donald Trump.

It was very clear that Cuomo really did not care about anything but grabbing power.

From the beginning he did not take accountability for the mess with the retirement homes. All he had to do was explain why they did what they did, say it was a mistake and explain how they would do it different in the future. He would have politically survived, people were not used to being in a pandemic.

Then there was the Thanksgiving crap and how he carried himself and how he would not really answer questions from the press and would frequently get into public arguments with the President, but was clearly influenced by flattery.

We don't need people like him involved in the government. NY isn't his fiefdom.

America's Governor has hired a criminal defense attorney for the nursing home scandal. Meanwhile one of his sexual harassment accusers has hired the same attorney Christine Blasey Ford used in her case against Brett Kavanaugh.

Gov. Cuomo’s Accuser Faults Him for Resisting Independent Sexual Harassment Investigation
New York governor retains veteran white-collar defense lawyer Elkan Abramowitz amid probes into harassment and Covid-19 nursing-home deaths

By Jimmy Vielkind and Joe Palazzalo
    Updated March 1, 2021 6:42 pm ET

ALBANY, N.Y.—A woman who accused New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo of sexual harassment faulted him Monday for resisting calls for an independent investigation as the administration retained a prominent white-collar defense attorney for federal probes into Covid-19 deaths in the state’s nursing homes.

Charlotte Bennett, 25 years old, said Monday that Mr. Cuomo engaged in “predatory behavior” and offered support to other women who had uncomfortable experiences while working with the 63-year-old governor. Attorney General Letitia James has opened an inquiry into harassment allegations by both Ms. Bennett and another former Cuomo staffer.

The Cuomo administration now faces multiple investigations and restive lawmakers who canceled a series of planned votes at the State Capitol to discuss the unfolding events, legislators said. Elkan Abramowitz, a one-time federal prosecutor, confirmed on Monday that he is representing the Executive Chamber—which comprises the governor and his closest aides—in Justice Department inquiries about the state’s nursing homes.

On Saturday, Ms. Bennett said Mr. Cuomo asked her questions about her sex life during an encounter in his Capitol office in June. Mr. Cuomo said in a written statement that he never made any advances toward Ms. Bennett and never intended to make her feel uncomfortable.

Mr. Cuomo relented on Sunday to bipartisan calls for an investigation of sexual harassment allegations by Ms. Bennett and Lindsey Boylan, a former economic development adviser who said Mr. Cuomo kissed her on the lips without her consent and suggested they play strip poker. A spokeswoman for the governor has said Ms. Boylan’s claims aren’t true.

The governor hasn’t taken questions since Ms. Boylan detailed her allegations last week. On Sunday, Mr. Cuomo said he had sometimes been overly personal while interacting with staff.

“I acknowledge some of the things I have said have been misinterpreted as an unwanted flirtation. To the extent anyone felt that way, I am truly sorry about that,” he said in a statement.

Ms. Bennett rejected Mr. Cuomo’s attempt to apologize.

“The governor has refused to acknowledge or take responsibility for his predatory behavior,” Ms. Bennett said. “These are not the actions of someone who simply feels misunderstood; they are the actions of an individual who wields his power to avoid justice.”

Spokesmen for the governor didn’t immediately return a request for comment on Ms. Bennett’s statement.

Ms. James, a Democrat like Mr. Cuomo, received a formal referral on Monday that will allow her to oversee the harassment inquiry. Cuomo administration lawyers at first announced they had asked Barbara S. Jones, a former federal judge, to review the allegations. They then suggested that Ms. James consult with Janet DiFiore, the chief judge of the New York State Court of Appeals, to pick an independent reviewer. Ms. James said that plan was not acceptable.

Rich Azzopardi, a senior adviser to the governor, said Mr. Cuomo hasn’t hired a lawyer in connection with the harassment probe.

Ms. Bennett has retained Debra S. Katz, who also represented Christine Blasey Ford in 2018 when she accused Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her when they were high-school students. Justice Kavanaugh has denied the allegation.

This is the second time Mr. Cuomo has turned to Mr. Abramowitz to represent him in a sensitive manner. In 2014, the governor hired Mr. Abramowitz as his lawyer in a federal probe over whether Mr. Cuomo acted improperly in steering the work of an anticorruption commission that was shut down as part of a state budget deal that year.

In that probe, then-U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said in early 2016 that his review found “insufficient evidence to prove a federal crime.”

State campaign finance records show Mr. Cuomo’s re-election committee paid more than $600,000 from 2014 to 2016 to Morvillo Abramowitz Grand Iason & Anello PC, where Mr. Abramowitz is a partner.

The Justice Department investigation stretches back to the summer, when the Cuomo administration’s reporting of Covid-19 deaths in nursing homes began to receive intense scrutiny from lawmakers, journalists and the families of nursing-home residents who died of Covid-19.

The Civil Rights Division requested records in August about the Covid-19 death toll in public nursing homes. The state’s response led some Justice Department officials to believe the state was significantly underreporting nursing-home deaths, the Journal has reported, and the Civil Division in October requested information about New York’s private nursing homes for a fuller picture.

In January, a state attorney general’s office report said that the state had undercounted the death toll in some nursing homes by 50%.

The Health Department released figures in January, following a judge’s order, that increased the death toll attributed to long-term-care facilities by around 50% to more than 15,000.

During a Feb. 10 meeting with state legislators, Melissa DeRosa, Mr. Cuomo’s top aide, said the state sidelined requests for the fuller tally because of the Justice Department probes. She said state officials feared the information would be politicized by the administration of former President Donald Trump, according to a transcript of the meeting.

“We froze,” she said, according to the transcript. “We were in a position where we weren’t sure if what we were going to give to the Department of Justice or what we give to you guys and what we start saying was going to be used against us and we weren’t sure if there was going to be an investigation.”

Brooklyn federal prosecutors’ data request came after her comments were made public on Feb. 11, the Journal has reported.

—Rebecca Davis O’Brien contributed to this article.

    Corrections & Amplifications
White-collar defense lawyer Elkan Abramowitz has been retained to represent New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s administration in a federal investigation into its accounting of nursing-home deaths. Mr. Abramowitz initially told the Journal he is also representing the administration in a probe of sexual-harassment claims against the governor, but said after the Journal published his article that he was only working on the nursing-home matter. (Corrected March 1.)
