Jordan is the only real option. Not the Jumpman logo. Something similar to what it is now. They don't need to change it, though. Especially not for Kobe. He isn't the one.
Would Jordan allow his likeness to be used as a logo without getting royalties? I assume Jerry West isn't getting paid a dime for being on the logo.
Are we changing it just for the sake of change? Or is it in the constitution that NBA logo has to be from a black player? I like Kobe, especially his desire to win. But most of people around the world don't even know Jerry West was "The Logo", they are just used to that NBA logo. Why do we have to change it? Even if we choose to change, does it have to be Kobe? What about MJ? Should we wait till MJ passes away, and change it to Air Jordan? History is there for a reason, you can't change that.
Great point. In college debate I was asked to defend the continued use of MTV even though the channel had largely gone away from music content and featured mostly reality television. Brand recognition is key; no one really thinks about MTV standing for Music Television or The Logo being Jerry West.
He isn’t, which is why the league has never said it was him and why they will me at change it to another player.
Kyrie is the guy who tried to defend "the earth is flat" with a straight face. Maybe not the guy you want behind the steering wheel of the multi-billion dollar behemoth that is the NBA.
