Was wondering if anyone had knowledge of this subject. I am looking for something that is

    - one days drive from Austin. This can mean 3 hours or 14 hours.

    - really really nice beach and pristine water. None of this Galveston/Aransas stuff, no offense

    - water as warm as possible for mid March

    - family oriented. Not a college kid type place. Quieter and less crowded is better

    - would love to be able to rent a house RIGHT ON THE BEACH. If you have specific airbnb or vrbo recommendations even better.

essentially want to take the family with another family and spend 3-4 days at a legit beach house where we don’t really have to ever “leave the house” or hop on and pack up a car, etc and enjoy some beach time.

random aside but if there’s something like the above that isn’t beach but is some other activity that’s fine too. But the idea is to let a bunch of kids 7-12 yrs old have fun, off electronics as much as possible, without requiring the parents to do a shot ton of work once we arrive lol.

    thanks!!!

3& 1/2 hours puts you squarely in Port A/Galveston range.......

Lake house at New Braunfels/Canyon Lake?

I am willing to drive a FULL day for someplace way better than Port A ... no offense to the Port A lovers.

Misread... 3 or 14 hours. Yea, South Padre has the best beaches but it will be party city.

You got Gulf shores, Pensacola and Destin within a 10 hour drive. Port aransas is decent but the water is not blue or emerald green.

I don't think anything west of the Mississippi is going to be that pristine as far as the water goes.

I thought I saw something on the news saying that Padre is telling college kids to stay away this year due to COVID, so it might actually be a decent option.

So I think we’re willing to go to the Florida / Alabama pandhandle.

I’m trying to search for a beach house - I want a house LITERALLY on the beach. So we can walk out the back door and be on the beach in 3 minutes.

I’m having a harder time than I thought I would finding these.

any suggestions?? I’m good with any solid beach area - Alabama, Florida whatever.

Of course you are having a harder time than you anticipated... you want a place with clear water, a nice beach, a house right on the beach... during a pandemic ... within a set mileage and... during Spring Break... but you want it to be kid and family friendly.

Yeah... that will be hard to find.

We're going to Pensacola Beach but not during Spring Break. Booked a hotel as well, so not a beach house. Went through Costco Travel which had the best rates after checking around. We're making a one-night stop in New Orleans because the Mrs wants to. This is our first non-camping or non-Galveston vacation in.... a long time.

Nothing like having your whole family kidnapped by an armed drug cartel.

You can try a condo? on the beach and there's an abundance and more affordable than a house with more amenities.

When I saw only the title of the thread, I was hoping badly it was a Fatty post.

30a beaches are fantastic. We go every summer for a week. Destin just as pretty (right next door) but pretty crazy crowded (which is good for watching but bad for doing much else)
