Silas: CLAP CLAP CLAP "Try weaker!" Wall: "Hunh? Try 'weaker'?" Silas: "I want to see a third quarter collapse. I know you can do it." Boogie: "Man, I'm out this muhf***a."
Many of you are not even giving the guy a chance. Way too early to judge his performance. Someone mentioned his failure to take advantage of "teams failing to guard tucker on every single play in the corner" well, um, there's a reason they aren't guarding him, and it's the same reason Silas isn't "taking advantage" of it. He can't make the shot. Give the guy a chance to weed out the "not gonna be here" folks like Wall, Tucker, McLemore, etc. play them and maybe they'll have a "Kelvin Cato" game that fools a team to pay a higher trade price. Give him time to implement his system and play the kids and lose, but by playing hard and establishing the change in work ethic the team needs. The change in defensive intensity is pretty evident. Be patient and let the team make sure KPJ doesn't end up like Eddie Griffin. There's no rush to bring him up. Some of us were around for the "82 and '83 seasons...and we did not give up.
PJ is close to 50% career with corner shots - we are idiots for not taking advantage of completely unguarded corner 3's. If PJ is unguarded it is the coaches responsibility to direct him to take the shot. If he fails too many times then the coach CANNOT allow the offense to play 4 on 5 and should bench PJ until he can show he can contribute in practice. Good coaching requires the strength to make moves that might not be popular with the players.
There’s a reason these guys were not drafted. While they play hard, hustle can only take you so far. At some point, you have to have a basketball skill to win games. The Rockets don’t have enough players with consistent basketball ability.
Against the Raptors once again we were smashed in the 3rd quarter 28 - 21, also a game low scoring output. Whatever adjustments going on at the half are consistently ineffective.
If anything Rockets half time adjustments make them even worse. Coaching matters but also the stubbornness to keep the least efficient and productive unit on the court past the point of no return. Coach needs to figure out his personnel balance and not just play all the vets together come hell or high water.
Our overall team sucks right now but I think they plan to rebuild ahead of time. I am just hoping we get that top 4 pick.
I agree on Dipo being extremely over rated but Wall is not a career loser. He's actually an awesome player to have with a stacked team. We just don't have a stacked team and therefore he is useless here. I would say this is a poorly constructed team rather than poorly coached team. Which also stems from being a poorly owned team. F'ck Fertitta and Landry's!
The old school answer to that would have been fear of wind sprints until they puke. But in today's NBA...no reason at all.
No one could coach the Houston Bricklayers.. keep on bricking guys, we need to keep our pick this year
so if you get the pick what good is that? suddenly the coach will be able to coach the player they pick and make him an alltime great like harden or lebron? not even harden was a decent 3pt shooter in playoffs here lololol even if you draft a new harden its still just a MEDIOCRITY... harden won nothing in this league
I dont think its the coach. Its the quality of players and the absence of our key players. When the warriors became the cellar dweller, its because Klay and Steph were not there. Not because Kerr was a bad coach. In our case, we lost our best player (CW) to injury during this losing streak and the other key players were in and out. The fact that the rockets can mount comebacks from huge deficits within games like the one vs Philly, even with a mediocre group, shows good coaching. You can blame the coach when you have a power house team and still cant make it to the finals - like the clippers last year.
If we get the top pick we take the best player ... likely Cade Cunningham Then we are heading in the right direction. Someone to build around... we don’t have anyone to build around yet... C Wood could be a great complimentary star but we need a franchise player... not John Wall not sure why you think it’s a bad idea to do what’s best for the future of the franchise
