    Biden flexes his muscles

    https://www.cnn.com/2021/02/25/politics/us-iraq-iran/index.html

(CNN)The US military struck a site in Syria on Thursday used by two Iranian-backed militia groups following rocket attacks on American forces in the region in the past two weeks, according to a US official.

The strikes mark the military's first known action under President Joe Biden. The site was not specifically tied to the rocket attacks, but were believed to be used by Iranian-backed Shia militias operating in the region.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said that the strikes took place "at President Biden's direction" and were authorized not just to respond to recent attacks against American and coalition forces, but to deal with "ongoing threats to those personnel."

Kirby said that Biden conducted the strikes after consulting with US allies, including coalition partners.

"Specifically the strikes destroyed multiple facilities located at a border control point used by a number of Iranian backed militant groups including Kait'ib Hezbollah and Kait'ib Sayyid al Shuhada," Kirbry said. "The operation sends an unambiguous message; President Biden will act to protect American coalition personnel. At the same time, we have acted in a deliberate manner that aims to deescalate the overall situation in both Eastern Syria and Iraq."

The site is believed to be used as part of a weapons smuggling operation by the militias. The strikes were carried out to degrade the ability of the groups to carry out future attacks and to send a message about the recent attacks, the US official said.

The decision to target the site in Syria was made from the "top down," a defense official said, and was not because of a specific recommendation from the military.

Have we learned nothing in the past 20 years. Asad is bad. The Rebels are bad. There are no good guys.

Gotta use those bombs before they go bad.

Like all those cans in the back of our pantries, their time has come.

Democratic Presidents have to approve valid military strikes or be vulnerable to GOP attacks as weak. SOP with Obama and Clinton.

I see no problem with any of this.

In two years Donald Trump killed more people with drone strikes than Obama/Biden did in 8 years and then proceeded to reverse an Obama era executive order to make drone strike casualties public.

He also vetoed a bill that ended support for the war in Yemen that is killing Yemense citizens in mass with blockades that is causing mass famine. Why? Because according to Trump: "They will buy 15 billion dollars in our weapons".

He increased the rate of civilian casualties in Afghanistan also.

But Trumping doesn't excuse the actions of Biden. Also by critiquing Trump on those things, I take it you agree with me that this doesn't look good. Glad to have you aboard team logic.

But your premise is "America's back" using a sarcastic tone to make a argument about a false reality that we weren't doing this the past 4 years.

When have I been shy about criticizing Biden? I've gotten **** from multiple posters here for it.

I criticized Trump's war mongering for the record. And I'll keep criticizing whoever is pushing war. If we agree then there isn't much to talk about.

Except you just framed an argument with the title of the video "murcia is back" implying this wasn't going on the past 4 years.

So yes you are euphonizing Trump's murder record in the middle east by framing it that way.

You're just counting drone strikes. Interesting. You're distracting from the complexity of the issues. The fact is, bombs are not just delivered by drones. And drone strikes going up is likely a product of their use becoming more common from our air bases. Regardless the totals are not good and Obama and Biden dragged us into Syria and bombed cities into dust there. Trump actually made efforts to lessen our presence and you will see Biden increase it. Guarantee. Do you have any idea how many sorties were flown out to Syria during Obama and what they did to the cities there? Go read some data and stop cherry picking. Trump increased our activity in Afghanistan, and overtime decreased it in Syria and Iraq. It's not a matter of Trump being a hero either, because he never did enough to get us out for sure and Yemen was not a good idea. Selling to Saudis as well. The whole thing is a mess, but Biden wants us back there. He also wants us to stop drilling at home so we have even more of a reason to be involved over there. The fact is YES Murica is back. In Syria. They will bomb the ever loving **** out of that country now that he is in power. Hell, they will likely bomb another country extensively to further weaponize migration against the competing European powers.

So on planet Earth, there is more than one country in the Middle East than Syria. There is this country called Yemen. You should look it up. You should look up the mini genocide we are funding there because as Trump said "Saudi is buying 15 billion dollars of our weapons".

Also, the Syrian conflict is a product of destabilization that occured during the Bush adminstration in Iraq that created cascading events that lead to the rise of ISIS in the Middle East. Syria was already in the midst of immense social unrest as its people were fighting a oppressive regime in Assad's. ISIS found it's way to Syria and convinced many of its people that they are better than Assad and hence a civil war that would have existed without US intervention. There was no "war that was created by Obama". Obama inherited a destablized mess due to the previous regime and Obama's successor explicitly stated that Obama "created ISiS" for doing the same exact thing that you are nut hugging Trump for.

    Trump bragged about torture.

Trump said he'd kill the family members of terrorists.

And it showed in his policy has he killed more people in the Middle East using drone strikes than in 8 years of Obama era strikes. He also increased the overall level of causalities outside of drone strikes especially in Afghanistan and did I mention Yemen where he vetoed a bill that literally was going to stop our support in a horrible war in Yemen killing thousands of innocent civilians with horrible tactics such as blockades causing mass famine?

Here is Biden literally reversing a war mongering policy of Trump's.
