It’s a market based narrative award for most part. Plus with all respect to guys like Patrick Ewing , Harden and KD are the best players to play in New York probaly ever. No disrespect to Walt Frazier
Giannis winning back-to-back is market based? It is, for sure, a narrative-based aware, but size of the market has very little to do with it IMO.
That's a bit much he is not nearly the defender or driver Ego is. the importance of his defense is very underrated during that 65 win season.
Here is a challenge for you guys. Name the players that posted better numbers after they stopped playing with Harden versus when they were playing with Harden. I'm not counting guys like Covington that didn't play at all because they weren't NBA ready.
Steve Nash won it in Phoenix. Karl Malone won it in Utah. Garnett won it in Minneapolis. Kareem won it in Milwaukee. Not sure NY or CA really have an impact on any of this.
Can't hate the guy for wanting to win a chip. I honestly didn't think he would be better in Brooklyn but he has improved his game overall (passing and defense) compared to his days in Houston. Scoring is no longer his priority and I give him a lot of credit for sacrificing a bit of that for the betterment of the team. He has nothing else to prove as far as individual accolades and just need a few rings. I think he now has a good chance to do just that.
Harden has been sacrificing his scoring really for the last year, hasn't he? It started last February as he started deferring more to Russell Westbrook.
Yes it does. It absolutely does. If James Harden was in NY and played like he did the last 5-6 years, he would have won multiple MVP's. That is true too if he had been on the Lakers. The spotlight is a lot brighter in LA and especially NY. No one said it is impossible to win in a smaller market, it is just harder.
Harris was picked in the 2nd round by Cleveland, and was traded to the Magic for another second round, and then was waived by Orlando and signed by the Nets for peanuts. The painful thing is that 2016 was the year Harris was waived. The following off-season, we signed Ryan Anderson for 20M per year, whom later we gave up loads of assets to unload.
I am beginning to think the Nets roster is not as weak as some are making them out to be, Brown and TLC are legitimate rotation guys and brown reminds me of PJ who can drive the ball a bit. Johnson is no scrub and a competent defensive guy once Durant comes back they are 9 deep and its gonna take a real guy to break into that rotation.
it was basically a confidence issue to begin with and for guys like brown not being a widely known name. These others just need to fill the little gaps that the rest are already widely filled by their main stars. Said this the other day, the fact that these other guys are gaining more and more confidence as they play more games is horrible news for the rest of the league. And contributing to actually winning being most important. Could they upgrade those positions? Sure but as of now these guys are working to be those other guys in the primary rotation. I was thinking last night when was the last time Harden had a 24 year old like Brown to dropped 29 points next to him the way he did.
Harden is such a safety valve for the Nets Kyrie and Kd can sit 10 games And they would probably still go no less than. 5-5 Rocket River
