http://www.tankathon.com/ AMAZING! ALL THE CHEERING FOR THE WIZARDS TO WIN IS NOW MAKING ME SO HAPPY! TOP 4! THANKS RUSS!!!
A lot better than 0% chance and getting blown out in the first round of the playoffs or being in the bottom half of the lottery with like a 5% chance of keeping our pick. The reality is it is going to be close to a coin flip. Either the Rockets franchise will be on its way to an upper tier rebuild or the Thunder will have two high lottery picks.
Hate to say it. I was wrong. Tanking is correct. I can't believe we dropped to bottom 4 so fast. Time to trade Wall Tucker Cousins Oladipo Gordon for 2 year contracts & expirings, young talent & Draft picks.
You were not wrong. Wood got hurt and the whole team identity changed from one aspiring to win to one that cant win. We had the 8th seed at one point and were a mere game or two away from the 5th or 6th seed, remember? But reality is what it is and this team has no future, this year.
With all due respect to Wood, he was almost out of the league a year ago and now is being labeled as a superstar by some. All because of the rockets gambling on him. Even if he is turned off by this season, there are 2 more for him to see the upward trajectory of the Rockets. Being worried about his reaction to a poor season (especially considering his injury was a major cause) isn't a legit problem.
Sadly, tanking may be for the best if the last month reflects the true quality of the team. The lesson here is that if a team is bad enough to make tanking early in the season worthwhile, the tanking will happen naturally. There’s no need to purposely throw games.
I'm with you 100% and I keep trying to articulate it. I don't want to root for losing games. I want to root for a young team that cannot win and naturally gets a bottom spot upping the odds of a top 4 pick. Instead I'm rooting for a washed team that cannot win. This is the worst stretch of basketball I can remember the Rockets playing to be honest. There's almost nothing to enjoy in these games. Wall plays like he's James Harden when he needs to take a Chris Paul role. He almost never improves his teammates and constantly isos.
Wall isn't terrible. Overpaid, but not terrible. He has no backup PG, and the team around him (what's left of it) is in disarray, so he pushes too much to do what only pre-sandbagging Harden could (often) do. Embrace the tank!
I posted in another thread but similar, Rox don't tank. They never have, never will. This team should strive to be like the Lowery/Martin teams, stay competitive, keep assets value, draft well, and combine those to take that next step. Tanking is no guarantee (look at Francise with Yao pick, pure luck) so better to use the proven model.
Staying competitive with which players? This team is in full rebuild mode. The next step you are asking for should be from a good pick in the next draft (the most talented draft in years). Losing mentality is not looking for a great pick in the most talented draf in years, losing mentality is limiting yourself to making the playoffs for 25 years and holding stats instead of championships.
