I’ve been a part of this community for over 10 years and I’ve never asked for anything on here. My cat Morty had his lungs collapsed on Wednesday after we moved in to a friends house when our pipes bust and our power went out. We lost him for a minute or two but CPR brought him back. He’s been recovering from major surgery but the price has been massive. I’ve maxed out all my credit cards and well, I’m just here asking for a little help IF you can. I know it’s not a good time for many but I thought I’d just ask. I love this site and my wife thought y’all would want to hear my story. Thanks for reading.

You think the money on the cards just... disappears?

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say they probably aren't interest-free either. Our emergency cards charge 2% a month. That's 200 a month of pure interest for his 10k vet bill

Good luck OP, a ****ed up situation to be in

I've spent far too much on my pets over the years and I have to say sometimes it's best just to let them go -- then adopt an amazing new pet desperate for a good home.

it’s paid for with the cards. Actually. I used half of our wedding fund money on it too. I’m not begging here. I just thought I’d post my story on the website I use the most.

    This is me.

Won't catch me spending thousands on an animal. RIP homie...you will be missed....I'll think of the good times.

I hear this sentiment to a degree, but a lot of people become really attached to their pets including me. Yet, at the same time it's not worth going into bankruptcy either. We had to make a hard decision to put a family dog down a few months or so ago and it was really hard :\.

When you are married I think your prospective on pets will change depending on your spouses relationship with their pets. I get it, Why spend tons of money on an animal. I have a 13 year old Pit that I will not hesitate putting down when she looks like things are just getting too hard for her. I love her but I respect he process of life.

The look on my wife's face and the screams when the vet told her her cat was dying and they were doing CPR was something no man would want to see. I don't want to get deeper into this but i would pay $7K to make sure she knew we did everything we could to save her cat. Judge me for whatever but If not spending some money is going to cause my wife to question the lengths I will go to to save someone she loves then so be it. Money is money. I'll get a second job. I'm not one for luxury. I still drive a 2001 Camry when i could afford something better.

Morty is coming home today and the joy in my wife's voice this morning is the fuel that makes me wake up and go to work everyday. I'd do anything for her and for the fur babies she loves.

For those who donated, thank you. Beers on me a game when things are better. For those who just stopped by to read the post, thanks for reading and I hope you don't ever have to be in the situation I've been in.

Pretty crass to voice this opinion in a thread where a guy is asking for help with his very ill beloved pet. Didn't ya'lls mammas teach you nothin' about tact?

Back to the thread about helping.
