    Lol.

We couldn't get anyone of their standard when we traded James Harden.

How the hell are we getting them now?

Need to shed Vic, EGO, Tuck and Wall too. Bring up the youngsters from the Vipers and prepare for next season.

I'd guess that Wall and EGo are basically untradeable at this point due to their contracts, but you got to at least gauge the market for them if you can move them.

Two weeks ago, many folks here were freaking out because trades hadn't already happened, and I said chill... lets give it a few weeks to see if the team can do something interesting, and we owed it to Wall, and Boogie to give them a chance to make the playoffs.

.... well I think we know now this team isn't going to make the playoffs unfortunately, and it's time to cut & run. It's a shame because if Wood stayed healthy, and Dipo & Wall could have gotten time on the floor together, I think this team would have been fun as hell to watch. However I just don't think they can stay healthy for some reason, and it's too late to claw back in the mix with this losing streak.

Thank you for the effort this season Boogie. That guy deserves an extended career, and a chance to win a ring.

Idk, I don't think he said anything wrong? I'm assuming you're talking about when he said nothing can be done to fixed this? That's his opinion. If he felt that way so be it. I mean obviously the Nets have a better chance at a ring than these Rockets do

I don't think Kyrie Durant and Harden shooting lights out is really the same as our hot stretch.

I think he had a point to an extent.
This team with him on it had a ceiling ....2nd round
Period. I just did not see a path to the finals.
    He did not either.
Replace Westbrook with Wall- ok an upgrade
Replace Covington with Cousins - ok a downgrade
Even if you say Covington for Wood - it is and upgrade (hindsight 2020)
Tucker and Ego a year older and maybe slower
House and bmac still house and bmac

A rookie coach and rookies are suppose to be the difference makers that propel us further than last year????

    Lakers made some marketable improvements
    Jazz are gelling
    Nuggets were looking good and
Pheonix is OKC with more talent.

I'm as optimistic as the next guy
But I can understand the position

Yup, that's not what I'm talking about tho.

Jeff Green shooting 42% from 3, Tyler Johnson shooting 45% and basically everyone on the Nets having a career year shooting efficiency wise.

Maybe that's the Harden effect. Maybe they're just really hot and cool down at some point. Who knows.

It is most definitely the Harden effect.

Nets were 11th rated offense before Harden, and his gravity, arrived in Brooklyn.

Nets are now the greatest offense ever.

It's nice gesture by the Rockets management to guarantee his contract before moving him. I don't think we'll get much from trading him. But whatever. Welcome back, small(er) ball.

To be totally honest, I don't think it's far fetched in the NBA to see a "wink wink" deal. I find it odd that we gave up Allen for so little, I also find it odd that KPJ was given away for virtually nothing, despite his issues. Both deals make a lot more sense if you believe they may be connected.

Or it was just stupid GMing.

Which is more believable, the conspiracy or the incompetence?

I was wondering this too but not sure why KPJ wouldn't have just been included in the first place. Maybe any extra compensation was to be agreed upon once KPJ returned to practice to see where his mind was at and then CLE would have shipped him to Houston for something of value but KPJ ruined that for the Cavs by throwing a fit and never even suiting up for another practice for them.

Anyways, it is possible considering Stone has proven to be a solid behind the scenes negotiator considering how we were able to pry Wood from the Pistons via a sign and trade that was obviously done with a "wink wink" deal to avoid any type of tampering charges. Looking at the Harden trade as Oladipo, KPJ + 4 picks + 4 swaps looks much better if KPJ was part of it. Either way Stone was able to add a talented young player that we have been craving and he did it for nothing so I like to think that the Rockets gained some sort of "good faith" from the Cavs or agents for working with Harden to get him to where he wanted to go. Also, Cavs were happy to have a young Center while not giving up too much in return.

I summed up the amazing RoCo trade and subsequent sign and trade return that Stone pulled off after trading RoCo that basically netted us Wood, Kenyon Martin JR. and (2) lottery protected 1st round picks. Still not sure of the 2nd round pick that we had to give up but the net total return from the RoCo trade is an early Morey-esque trade that may define Stone's career similar to the Harden trade. Not saying Wood will have the same impact but the additional assets (KMj + picks) attained can allow Stone to deal from a position of strength going forward instead of weakness. Impressive considering it was basically the first 2 trades that he made as the new GM.

    Houston Out
RoCo (contract 2 years left at about 12.8 per?)
2nd Rd pick to Pistons for S&T Wood (anyone know if this is a “fake” 2nd rnd pick that will likely never be conveyed? Still don’t know the protections but this was likely included just to save face and avoid tampering charges. Reporters were pretty overwhelmed last night and details like picks were pretty much ignored.

    Houston In
Christian Wood (3 years at $13.66 per)
2021 Lotto protected 1st found pick from Portland
2021 Heavily protected 1st round pick from Detroit (as Bima has mentioned Detroit will likely ask for lighter protections on this eventually due to Stepien rule)
Kenyon Martin Jr (traded the 2021 Lakers pick that we “bought” for $4.6 mil for KMj) + 1mil to the Kings.

Does that sum it up correctly? I realize that some people will add the Capela deal to this but that was Tilman/Morey’s move last year so you can’t put the loss of the 1st rd pick on Stone.

    There must be another move.

There is no reason to release him now unless a 2 for 1 or 1 for 0 deal is in the works for someone else.

Maybe he wants a chance to start working out for other teams or something and doesn't want to miss much time sitting since he is already in a "groove". That's just my guess.

Rockets have no reason to waive him before the deadline unless they have something else in mind for that roster spot. I understand being nice but a month from now is all they would have to wait. This is a business.
