They're not still the main topic. They both went out as the main topic when their time in the spotlight was done.

Trump is still the main topic.

I mean an impeachment trial just happened. Plus he only officially was replaced a little over a month ago. Then there's the fact a good chunk of the GOP is shielding him while simultaneously hoping the court systems do what they didn't have the sack to follow through with. I mean on a Houston Rockets message board that's dominated by GOP that vouch still for Trump, expect his name to be brought up frequently as long as Cruz, Cornyn, Paxton, Abbot, Patrick and Crenshaw are still in office. They're not ever going to get that stank washed off them.

Then there's the Rudy lawsuits and that will always cause people to bring up Trump. Plus Don Trump Jr. is still Tweeting. Then you got other Trumps considering making a political run. And then Nikki Haley is vying for a political run. Trump will be discussed then because how can you not bring him up given their ties. And when there are updates on New York's investigations of Trump, it's going to be brought up. Or when people who were Trump loyalist get fired, it'll get brought up. Or when Biden reverses an Executive Order or enacts some legislation that goes against what Trump did, you guessed it. He will be brought up, but not just for the sake of it. It's not quite spontaneous Tourette's level reasoning for mentioning his name is all I'm saying.

When do people ever stop talking about the guys on mt Rushmore ? Never

Which is where Trump should be one day. He is easily a top 10 or better president of all time. While having worse adversity than even rosevelt and still achieved excellence. I’m proud to actually been alive to witness all the changes Trump helped institute and the profound positive impacts it had on the country and culture itself. Showing American exceptionalism is as strong as ever. You could even utter the words a shining beacon of light that stands shimmering and bright breaking up the darkness that the world can sometimes summon its inflictions of blight. Stand proud Donald Trump we were here, we saw you, and thank you.

This isn't just about Trump himself it is about "Trumpism". While aspects of Trumpism were around before such as with the TEA Party, John Birch Society and etc. Trump himself supercharged it and took over the GOP. Whether the media talks about Trump or not many will still use him as a rallying cry to push for a variety of things. The wave of new restrictions being put in regarding voting are being driven by that so many can't accept that Trump lost.

Just ignoring this movement or presuming it is done because Trump lost doesn't mean it's going away.

Just wait until he becomes the first former president to be criminally indicited.

So... trump won because he got attention? That excuse should go with past republican excuses... "trump won because of President Obama." and "trump won because of Hillary Clinton."

trump won because a large enough percent of republican voters voted for him. What he stood for and who is is as a person garnered enough republican voters. Not the media. And certainly not people posting about him on a basketball team discussion board.

And at least right now, it appears that there is still enough republicans that will support him so he will continue to be the most reportable republican political figure. Wishing him away... ignoring he is there sounds nice. But simply won't happen.

Just look at what has happened the last few days or will happen this week:
    • The United States just passed half a million COVID-19 deaths. You don't think that will be discussed?
    • Five major republican congressmen were on every major network on Sunday to say Biden didn't won and trump won. That shouldn't be reported on?
    • A major news organization poll reported that half of the republicans polled would vote for trump over whatever republican candidate. That shouldn't be reported on?
    • A republican senator who is trump's most loyal defender did a photo op at the Mexico border complaining that part of trump's wall wasn't being completed. That shouldn't be reported on?
    • trump is the headline at the annual conservative republican conference this week. That shouldn't be reported on?
    • A month ago a trump-incited group of trump supporters attacked the Capital, killed police, and are now coming to trial. That shouldn't be reported on?
One of trump's former press secretary's is the leading candidate to become the republican governor of Arkansas despite no qualifications. His daughter-in-law is the leading candidate for a senate seat in NC despite no qualifications. Ignore those too?

If most Trump supporters and especially those in Congress agreed that Trump lost the election I would largely agree with the OP.

People still talk about Obama and Bush today. So, I don't think the Trump talk goes away any time soon.

Republicans will claim anything good that happens is because of Trump and Democrats will claim that anything bad that happens is because of Trump. This will especially be true with anything related to the economy.

Also, Trump is the big bad guy that helped Democrats win control of everything. But, Trump still controls the conservative base. Trump is like a really hard drug, even the people who love him know he's not doing the party any favors.

I fear people will not stop talking about Trump until the GOP rids itself from him AND his family, so not ANY time soon

The Democrats should keep pounding that the GOP is the party of Trump until the GOP gets off their asses and gets rid of him.....

This country by and large HATES Trump - so it is in their best interest to keep talking about it, and the GOP has been so so cowardly in dealing with him, they just want him to go away - the Dems should not and will not let that happen.

The only way he goes away is he dies or is convicted, or the GOP finds their spine and exorcises him.
