good go watch something else. your takes are hot garbage. Harden is considered one of the Greatest offensive talent to grace the court and if all you could take away after 8 years of watching him play for us is that his playstyle consisted of just dribbling the ball for 10 seconds w/ everybody else just standing around which leads to "bad shots" then there's really no help for u my dude. There's really nothing I or any other poster can say that will fix stupidity, it is what it is.
Harden is much more efficient with the Nets it seems. Is it because he is less ball dominant and or the threat of Harris, Durant and Kyrie is too strong, thus more space and less double teams?
Yes, but BK has KD and Kyrie and Joe Harris as its shooters off Harden’s passes. We had Russ, Bad Eric Gordon, and Tucker last year. Their shooting is just on another level compared to what we had here. Teams can’t play those gimmick defenses against Harden.
I think it’s a combination of those things. He does seem more selective with his shots because he’s embracing a distributor role. Still, it seems likely that his efficiency numbers will regress a bit over time. He could be in the middle of a hot streak with the 3-point shooting.
Does anyone else notice that Harden seems to bark a lot at teammates when the Nets have a defensive breakdown? If the Nets hit an extended rough patch at some point, it will be interesting to see if that becomes a source of tension.
Well he signed a one-year for the vet minimum. Makes me wonder if Harden told him to sign with the Nets. Shooting guards only? That’s going to be Chris Mullin and Manu — it is a small list all guards? Ben Simmons Tiny Archibald (but he’s still below Mullin and Manu, imo) young guys to watch De’Aaron Fox Tyrese Haliburton
people really didn’t watch Harden play and then just formed opinions based off what casuals or the media said... 2 comments I saw last night while browsing Reddit “For me, I was influenced by the media, and r/nba, actually. (because I really didn't follow his actual game, just constantly hearing ****) When I heard we got Harden, I didn't want him. We had a deep bench (supposedly) and I was attached to JA. Harden was a ball hog, a selfish player, a nasty person, cancer in the locker room, being a problem in the Houston pre-season etc, etc. Then I started to watch him play - he wasn't that guy at all! Once I got to know him, I started to really like him as a person and a player. I mean, in his first game he set a franchise record, and in the post-interview, they asked him what it meant to him. He looked up and said "Nothing. All that matters is that we won". That impressed me right then and there. I went from hating someone I really didn't know, to really enjoying having him.” “I don’t follow the rest of the NBA nearly as close as I do the nets, so I always saw him as a ball hog, crazy high volume shooter, a guy who takes away opportunities for guys like Harris. I was pissed about losing JA and Vert. My mind changed in the first few games when I realized his incredible passing ability and vision to find open teammates. Sure he’s still a shooter at heart but I didn’t realize how great a passer and how selfless he can actually be. Though based on numbers alone, I should have known.”
The one thing Harden has picked up from Nash is the probing the paint and coming out. Before Harden would always try to score or make a pass. Now, he will stroll into the lane just to flex the defense and dribble out once in a while. It was one of the things that was signature Nash.
Harden and Westbrook are really close. Its not OKC, I imagine being high school stars in LA only a year apart, they spent a lot of time together That being said I was leery of how they would fit together like most people a nd how they would fit and accept deferring to one another. One of the things about it is Westbrook defered to Harden as point guard. That's impressive that another mvp playing the same role respected Harden's game. Once these guys get on the court its clear they want Harden making decisions. In the case of Paul and Harden, they blended together flawlessly. It is such a shame Paul went down. That was arguably the best back court in the history of the game and it will get lost because they didn't finish
Remember a few years ago they left him off the all NBA teams Do those same people put him in the all star game? Rocket River.
I think there are two effects. Nets fans are of course going to change their opinion on him, even if he played exactly the same as in Houston. That's not surprising. There's also the fact that Harden has rebalanced how he plays. He has led the league for years in missed 3-pointers taken off the dribble, turnovers, and tricky foul drawing. These are things that rub people the wrong way, especially if they aren't specifically fans of his team. And all of those things have been toned down in his new role.
except people are straight up admitting they weren’t watching him play and just formed beliefs based on what they were hearing or what people said it’s like me saying I don’t like a movie, but I haven’t even seen it
That's undoubtedly true for some people. The one you quoted appears to be a somewhat casual Nets fan, in particular.
