Y’all do realize prime Artest was an 18-20 ppg scorer and DPOY caliber player right? Y’all must be talking about Metta World Peace on the Lakers or something. Tate is a 25 yo rookie, let’s be realistic
and draymond's not exactly someone who creates his own shown or creates for other. just moves the ball and makes smart passes and marcus smart is just 5'3 I'm not saying he's gonna equal or surpass those two but that's the kind of role he can play for this team to succeed
Tate is Stone’s escape. Tate’s future as a Rocket will be him being added to move a larger underachieving contract to move that contract. The only reason we see Tate is because we are so desperate at the moment. I truly believe the Tate’s of the world are easily obtainable but not often seen because they never get playing time. Would Tate even be on the team if MDA, Harden and friends were still around? Sadly I think not. This is not knocking Tate in anyway. Tate is a capable player is. Tate is equal to House, IMO.
I don’t remember much PNR either, but this contains a several examples of him kicking out to shooters.
Remember House from a few years back? When he sat out to get more than a minimum contract. We as fans make players better than are, IMO.
I think it’s impossible to say right now. After one offseason we might be able to tell. Right now i think he can be a all defensive 1st team kind of glue guy. Will give you 20 on the some nights. Will probably not be a 16+ ppg type of guy. If he improves his 3 and keeps driving he might get to 14ppg on good efficiency with great defense. Which is insanely valuable.
There is literally no metric that rates House above Tate. House is only better at shooting 3s. Saying that one player won’t improve because another remained stagnant is a terrible argument.
Both Harden and PJ took Tate under their wing from the beginning. Not Wall, not Boogie. You're perception is wrong. If House is equal to House, then MDA would certainly have played him if not started him. Just as MDA did with House.
Will never be an All-Star but he's the type of role player all contenders look for around every corner. a Draymond-esque leap on a contender wouldn't be too surprising honestly. *Edit. He's PJ Tucker at the minimum and the dude is 36 and still coveted by contenders. Enough said, I think..
I viewed Tate as Ron Artest minus the height and width in the shoulders prior to game one. I still have him as a Ron Artest-lite; keeper going forward. But never an all star.....just steady rotation guy. Keepers: Wood / Tate / Mason Jones / either *Nwaba or Sterling Brown but not both. Unable to move: Wall / Eric Gordon *Free Agents that will want more money possibly. Need to weigh our options of price per production vs who else is a free agent. Might give us a discounted rate because they like Silas......but chances are other teams seek them out; which raises their price tag (supply and demand 101).
Tate is the type of role every team needs. He will be a long term NBA player and his particular role will depend on how good his team is. While his ceiling is likely limited due to being undersized as a forward, it would be wise to try to lock him up now on a long term team friendly contract.
