I'd like to think that even Ted Cruz isn't this tone deaf, but we're talking about Ted Cruz.

@robbie380 mentioned this in the weather thread in the hangout on Sunday. I hadn't thought much about it until I noticed his post, pulled up their app and saw their price gauge they have pegged at $9 a kwh. Submitted a request to a different provider on power to choose that luckily got picked up on Monday, the day I lost power early in the morning.

For now Griddy's showing I owe them $210 for 98 kwh on Monday, still waiting to see if that changes when I get the final bill from them.

To me it's my fault for not really understanding what I signed up for and additionally not learning the lesson during the heat wave last summer that you don't want to be on a plan like that during extremes. I had intended to get off of them beginning of winter when prices dropped but forgot I wanted to. At least during the heat wave the prices somewhat went back to normal overnight. These days of all day freezing temps there's no drop, it's just been pegged at an extreme 24 hours a day.

His work for Trump is done. Off to vacation. Texas is just a place he gets fools to vote him into the Senate. Ted isn't a real Texan. He sure as hell isn't sticking around to solve problems, hand out blankets, or step in and lend a hand.

What did he do this past year anyway? Besides licking Trump's boots daily, he did nothing good for Texans. He fought against masks and lockdowns, watched Texans die, blamed China, called Democrats socialists, helped suppress the voters rights in Texas during a pandemic, and as a finale he fought to spread the stop the Steal lawsuits and propaganda for Trump that led to treasonous acts.

He worked for his mob boss, not Texas. Then, in an American justice system gone wrong, he and the same brown shirts who participated for months of propaganda spreading that incited Trump's radical army to scream "Hang Mike Pence" and beat and kill police as they stormed the Capitol got to actually vote not guilty for their mob boss they aided and abetted.

There is a story on channel13 news this morning about a lady getting charged $600 for 2 days by Griddy

So apparently its straight market pricing so I wouldn't say it's gouging just an unfortunate consequence of their business model. Doesn't mean you shouldn't look into getting out of that bill

All I know is that if Texas wants to get better we need to vote AOC out of office! She has ruined Texas!

    ouch

as a griddy customer, you probably already saw this....

Griddy consumer business model is probably dead after this

    https://griddy.com/post/letter-from-griddy-about-the-storm-and-prices

We pushed out an email as quickly as we could, suggesting that our members switch to another provider with a fixed rate. While we value our members, we want what is best for their wallet and family even more, even if that means helping them switch away to our competitors. Their well being is more important than our bottom line.

Unfortunately, it looks like other providers are no longer excepting switches until later in the week. For those that did not switch over, we will still be here for you in any way we can help and continue to send you daily market updates.

This is what Republicans in TX think of you and your families.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/02/17/texas-mayor-power-outages-colorado/?outputType=amp

Residents turned to a community Facebook group to ask whether the small town planned to open warming shelters, while others wondered if firefighters could do their job without water. But when Colorado City’s mayor chimed in, it was to deliver a less-than-comforting message: The local government had no responsibility to help out its citizens, and only the tough would survive.

“No one owes you [or] your family anything,” Tim Boyd wrote on Tuesday in a now-deleted Facebook post, according to KTXS and KTAB/KRBC. “I’m sick and tired of people looking for a damn handout!”

btw, I remember California Governor Gray Davis was recalled largely over an electricity crisis in the state.

nothing will happen to Ted Cruz...we all know this

a few angry tweets on Twitter or posts on Reddit is about all u can expect, and he won’t give much of a fck about that

if pressed on why he fled to Cancun, he’ll do a quick pivot and blame or bring up some Democrat or *insert talking point about the evil left

the mindless drones that are the right wing will of course eat it up, so yeah, Ted Cruz is fine...by next week, only a few people on the left will still be talking about this

All he has to do is come out with an AK-47, shoot into the air, and say he supports 2nd amendment and he is forgiven.

Sadly he doesn't even have to go through that effort. All he has to do is have an R by his name.

yup, as long as he has an R by his name in a state like TX, he’s good

his Republican colleagues would have to condemn him for him to feel anything about this, but that’s not gonna happen so Teddy is free to enjoy his little vacation

Yeah, they started sending emails last week saying that demand was going to be increased and to expect a rise in prices. They do that periodically so typically the response is "Ok, so it's going to be a little more expensive then usual." Saturday they did start including in the bottom of that email "You should really find another provider". At that point it was too late to do anything for the weekend, even if I was paying enough attention to email to notice it which I wasn't. I was lucky to get switched to someone else Monday.

But yeah, I see no point to put myself back in that position.

And of course, here come the right-wing talking points excusing a republican elected official, for, at best appearing completely tone-deaf and at worst, not doing everything they can for the people they were elected to represent.
