I guess I am not watching the same Mason Jones, but this guys first step is so slow. He cannot get by anyone unless there is a pick involved. Only way I would see him being used in an offense, is if there are a lot of off ball screens set for him to shoot open threes. He is not a backup point guard in this league.
You are correct but he needs to learn the Harden way. In order to be faster, you must first become slower.
Same. He has that dirk legs made of wood run. Like he has to shift gears in order to get real speed going
The problem is they’re trying to make him a backup pg. he balled for us when he was actively trying to score but Wall said something to him about needing to get others involved. That’s not his strength. Wall leadership is vastly overrated
Fun fact. Mason Jones didn't play organized basketball until his senior year in high school, unlike most of his colleagues who have their entire life. I would like to hear your comments on this.
LOL talk about jumping the gun, he might be a better shooter but in no way is he a better shot creator, Butler can consistently take people of the dribble not something that Jones has done consistently. He is shooting 6 for 22 over the last 10 games, 3 of 14 on 3's so yeah lets tap the brakes on how awesome a shooter he is.
Did I ever say Jimmy was a good shooter? What's your point? Unlike Jones, Jimmy can contribute in other ways.
He doesn't have NBA level quickness or explosion so his ceiling is basically just a backup guard who takes outside shots. He'll be a spot-up shooter. It would be nice if he was closer to 6'5".
Mason Jones is a G-League level talent...literally nothing special about him at all he started off with an unsustainable hot streak, and of course, people took that and ran with it hyping him up
I just don’t see why he’s deserving of much hype. He started the year 14-24 from deep which simply wasn’t sustainable. Other than his 3 point shooting which has been falling back down to earth, nothing stands out to me.
I'd say the variance in how he scores is most interesting. He isn't shooting wide open threes out there. Also, his mentality and work ethic. For him to be successful in the NBA he needs to make major strides in the weight room. PER36: 18-6-4 3.0 3PM a game 5.6 FTA a game It is not common to see bulk threes and bulk free-throws. For this reason I would hold onto him and let him live in the training facility.
he was literally the lone bright spot in the last game. For the believers out there, there’s a huge auction of his going on right now. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mason-Jone...607334?hash=item23f1624fa6:g:SDYAAOSwURNgUCFi do you think it’s coincidental that this happened while John Wall was out? Looks like they are trying to showcase the guys on the block and he can be a 6th man and play his game.
