KMart is only 6'6 calling him up as a big wouldnt make sense IMO. Plus it wont do anything he isnt better than the guys we have on the roster. I've come around on John Collins I think the Rox should do what it takes to get him on board even if they have to pay the max to keep him next year. Bonus pts he is a big the Rox desperately need.
Why are there so many achilles injuries these days? Back in the day, it seemed like a pretty rare occurrence. I can only think of a couple guys (Dominique Wilkins most notably) from the 80s-90s that had this.
Feel really bad about this kid, personally it sucks. That said, what does that do to his 2-way and our roster? Is it guaranteed and we lose a spot like we did with Clemons?
Not only is Nature assaulting Texas, so is Bad Luck. Just when you think it can’t get any worse for the Rockets, it gets worse. Bad break for the kid, and a bad break for us. Hell, we can’t catch a break unless it’s a bad break.
A study found 18 players who suffered major Achilles injuries between 1988-2011: The bigger names: Dominique, Kobe, Isiah Thomas, Elton Brand, Patrick Ewing, Mehmet Okur, Gerald Wilkins, Christian Laetner, Mo Taylor. That covers a 23-year span. in the decade since then, there are 13 Achilles tears or ruptures I can name, and something tells me I'm missing a bunch: KD, Kobe, Klay, Boogie, Nwaba, Dwight Powell, Rudy Gay, Wes Matthews, Chauncey Billups, LaPhonso Ellis, Voshon Lenard, Clemons, and now Spalding.
Well, John Wall for one. It just seems strange to have 5 guys with current or former achilles injuries on the same team. [edit] Apparently Rodney Hood, JJ Barea, Dwight Powell, Darius Miller as well.
Realistically, Dedmon(FA), Thon Maker(FA), Javale McGee(Trade), Mo Bamba(Trade) and even though he is 6'6, KMart Jr(Call-up). These are the cheapest moves the rockets can make. I prefer the rockets to go and get some size. Give Boogie some 7 footers to help him out. I would say Drummond but we would have to trade a big contract and all of our big contract players are currently injured. We would have to wait until trade deadline with that anyways.
I was thinking since the Cavs are trying to get rid of him the injured player being traded wouldn't matter so much.
Really an awful break, hope its more along the lines of a few weeks or month sprain type injury versus a tear.
