You can count on this being as close to quotes as a journalist could get on paper. rudy is saying we need both a perimeter shooter/scorer and a big man/intimidator/shotblocker. So, who wants to bet which way he'll go? 2. not expecting big deals tomorrow from anyone. 3. Radman and Gasol gone my 13. 4. 6 and 7 spots are likely not moving 5. Most people think Gasol will go farther do the line and play in Europe for a year, based on his contract status solely. 6. Some Dream blah blah blah talk 7. Jordan blah blah blah 8. Chandler, Brown, Griffin are the 3 guys Rudy heard for #1 9. Langhi was a spur in the movement draft day trade. Usually it is more to plan. They are doing a lot of work tonight to prepare for tomorrow. They really wanted Othella, but passed on a trade offer from Chicago in the last second, and called their bluff. They try to prepare so they don't panic. 10. "#1 Criteria is that they can fit our style of play." "That covers 80-90% of the people in draft." (Oh geeze, thx Rudy!) "If not an inside shotblocker, they must be able to shoot." "[Inside] Shotblocking is very attractive." [This message has been edited by heypartner (edited June 26, 2001).]

He also said that shotblocking was very attractive, and that if a bigman couldn't bang inside then he'd better have a shot. Either one of those things are what they are looking for from a bigman, and most likely both. HeyPee, don't edit your post and explain to me what the hell a "spur in the movement" is. Sounds pretty painful to me. ------------------
Let try to get it all in the first forum on this same topic. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/Forum3/HTML/013409.html ------------------ "Instinctly u recognize things, now take advantage of what u just recognized!".. Hakeem..
Sounds like JJ or Troy Murphy will be a Rocket ------------------ "For there is nothing either good or bad, thinking makes it so." - William Shakespeare (1564-1616), Hamlet
Bob, It sounds like Woods to me more than either of those two guys, if he's not giving out a smokescreen. Loren is the only great shotblocker out there besides the first few picks, he has a great shot out to 18 feet, and his added muscle since the season ended should help him to be able to bang inside. ------------------ The Mo Taylor Fan Site "Basketball players win basketball games. good grief, moe I edited in the editorial commentary and bold. And wanted to emphasis the last comments as exact quotes for sure. #9 was in response to a question about how the team prepares for the draft. I only included interesting stuff about past selections. He was saying that Langhi and Othella were examples of rapid decisions that they did not plan for. In other words, Najera was their real pick.
I don't think Woods will last till 13. Pistons, Grizzlies and Cavs may grab him. ------------------ "For there is nothing either good or bad, thinking makes it so." - William Shakespeare (1564-1616), Hamlet
Bob, There's talk the Cavs might could get him at 20. Even though I am a big fan of his, realistically there is no way he'll go top 8. There are too many of those "potential" players there for someone proven to get a look. He could possibly go to Detroit, but I doubt it. I read in an article from a Michigan paper that they were impressed with Haywood more than Woods, and that the top players they had interest in were Haywood, Troy Murphy, Radmanovic, and Joe Johnson. ------------------ The Mo Taylor Fan Site "Basketball players win basketball games. I would be ecstatic if Woods was there at #13. He totally fits this rocket team. I also will be surprised if he lasts that long. ------------------
Not trying to claim a scoop or anything, but I work at Lids in the airport and Woods was in there like a week ago. I think he was working out here with the big man from Kansas(name?) Anyway, when this other guy who he was friends with asked him he said it was probably Orlando or Houston for sure. He didn't mention with what pick. Hope that helps. ------------------ Fret for your figure and Fret for your latte and Fret for your hairpiece and Fret for your lawsuit and Fret for your prozac and Fret for your pilot and Fret for your contract and Fret for your car. Unfortunately nothing is for sure until the picks are made. ------------------ Anger is a weed. Hate is a tree.
If Radmanovic is gone then we have to take Kedrick Brown I don't see the Celtics choosing both Radmanovic and Brown. Although Brown is supposedly going to be traded to Port. for Wells ------------------
HeyPee, don't make me go back up there and add a smilie. That was my biggest laugh today! Also interesting about the Langhi deal. ------------------
