Acquired some more knowledge regarding this sprinkler crap.
I am supposed to find the sprinkler system isolation valve...and I looked on the ground near the backflow thing and no luck.

I looked near my main meter and I only saw the main water shut off.

Latest models have gotten even colder with more snow and sleet instead of such a severe ice storm.

You're telling me it might get to zero in Houston?

Wow. Now if it just drops another 20 degrees from that it will be as cold as here in Montana!:D

3 degree and 7" of snow in HOU? These guys are having fun again.

The national weather service is still sticking to 10 degree and 1-2" of snow.

    Looks like still highly unpredictable.

I’m going to go ahead and assume my area will get little to no snow

So any advice for preventing pipes from freezing? I mean at 12 degrees, a drip, and even with insulation they WILL freeze. I guess draining all pipes in my home is the best option? I have PEX plumbing if it matters.

The no bs guys from space city weather:

    https://spacecityweather.com/

We’re now reasonably confident that areas north of Interstate 10 will see on the order of 1 to 4 inches of snowfall by around mid-morning on Monday.

I think we’re looking at a range low temperatures from 5 to 15 degrees for western Harris County and Montgomery County, 10 to 20 degrees in central Houston, and 15 to 25 degrees along the coast.

I mentioned it but didn’t know if it’s a good idea. Also suggested by the space city weather site:

PIPES: Protect all and any exposed pipes, shut off and drain sprinkler systems. Open cabinet doors and closet doors to get as much heat against outside facing wall pipes as possible starting Sunday night. In some cases the best course of action may be to shut off water to a structure and drain pipes overnight when water usage is low to avoid pipes freezing and bursting.

your first post looked complicated as hell. Why not just cover than entire thing up real well so it doesn't freeze?

I just took the dog (Sunny - Yellow Lab) out front. This can't be good for her arthritis but we were out there a good 35 minutes. It's gently snowing up here in North Texas and it's supposed to be a full-on blizzard coming up. This is very strange.

I'm putting on my Jack Torrance face and I have my axe on standby.

My candle idea and insulation is working out well so far for my small fruit trees but we will see if I have enough candles to last the next few days
