Harden, Wood and Gordon is probably a top 6 seed in the west but not enough to win a ring.this thread is downright idiotic

They probably do. They could care less if we win or lose as long as they have their aesthetically pleasing basketball.

I didn't think there was much of a "Harden have no help," crowd but I'm thinking of retroactively joining it

Yeah but only Harden wouldn’t get blasted for not winning a ring AGAIN. So the guy wanted out to improve his chances. Some folks want loyalty and want to **** on the guy for not winning when they lose to a clearly superior team. It’s silly and I get why Harden wanted to leave, but he was an unprofessional ass on the way out. But the Rockets should have dealt him when he first asked. They may have even gotten more out of it. But it’s all done and over with.

AT BEST, with good health and Harden fully engaged and averaging 30+ ppg, this team would be the 4th or 5th seed and go no further than the 2nd round...then when they get stomped by the actual contenders, we’d have thread after thread, post after post, destroying Harden and calling him a b*tch, a loser, etc because he couldn’t carry some scrub roster to greatness...

without Harden, this team’s ceiling is struggling to be .500, and their floor is 14th in the West

then we have clowns questioning why Harden would ever want to go and play with Kyrie and KD instead...lmao

Tillman's biggest error was in accommodating Harden's first request last year despite the vehement objection of his GM

Once it was clear Harden & CP3 couldn't coexist any longer, he should have directed Morey to quietly work the phones

Find the best deals possible for both Harden & Paul without the media negotiations, while also exploring subsequent deals for the remaining 'core' pieces with any meaningful market value (Clint, Eric, PJ)

When he ignored Morey, destroyed our draft future, and got bent over by OKC to bring in Russ just for James, he set us on this course thru a series of desperate, reactionary moves that followed as a chain of disasters

We lost any leverage to maximize our return haul in trades for any of our 4 most valuable trade chips before the Russ deal:

Harden - let him sabotage any efforts to create a bidding war by lingering until the season started, thereby removing potential bidders like BOS (Jaylon) & DEN (Porter) when those targets exploded into untouchables
James played him expertly to land his dream destination while we acquired ZERO core pieces of a future contender

Paul - dealt when value was at rock bottom coming off dissappointing, injured season. Bounce-back year in OKC enabled them to flip onto PHX without having to take back equally long, massive contract like Russ or Wall

Capela - more desperation as our young DEF centerpiece was turned into stopgap RoCo as a hail mary effort to justify Russ mistake by compounding it with midget-ball
Wood deal mitigates this loss somewhat, but S&T was only necessary bc we refused to be proactive and still had Harden, Wall, Gordon on the books

Gordon - somehow amidst the chaos we gave an aging, streaky, injury-prone a raise with a multi-yr extension. Not only did we bid against ourselves for no reason, but the timing turned an expiring trade chip into an untradable payroll weight

You’re right they should have traded Harden last year. The haul would have been tremendous had they done it out of the blue.

But Tillman was always going to fire Morey ( or ask him to spend more time with his family), whom he inherited, and put his own guy in that role. Tilman is a prideful billionaire who has to put his mark on everything. He should have made all the changes he made this year when they traded CP3 and they would’ve possibly gotten more out of the Harden trade and avoided a lot of Drama. At the end of the day Tilman is the boss and no one knows that better than Tillman

Tilman hated CP3 contract and he was disrespectful and not shy about saying so publicly and repeatedly about how much he wanted to get rid of it.

No matter what, Tilly was getting rid of CP3 last season.

Tilman is 100% culpable for the crime of deconstructing and devaluing a championship contending team, on AND off the court.

We need better shooters. If we shot just a little better we’d win a lot more games.

    Shooting and making volume 3's.

Winning turnover battle AKA switch everything defense.

    Winning FT battle.

Same 3 goals for success preached by MDA/Morey.
