Why don't we lure John Stockton and Jeff Hornacek out of retirement as well? And fire Van Gudy, repacing him with Sloan.

This is still a Rockets fan site, right?

So in other words, you were trolling or at the very least wanting attention.

Did you really need this recent series to wake you up???

Let me explain my hatred of those Jazzhole team: I was a little uneasy when we signed Antoine Carr.

I will say this perfectly clear: If the Rockets signed Karl Malone, I would not longer be a fan of the team. Period.

Karl should still be a good player next year and would make the Rockets a better team on the court. I would say "yes" to him playing for the Rockets for that reason alone.

If anyone has an opinion that differs from mine in ANY way, you are clearly in the wrong and should refect upon your place in this world.

There were several posts like this.

Here is how I read what the poll is really asking:

"Would you make a trade that would make the Rockets a better team."

    My answer is ALWAYS yes!

    If the poll was:

"Do you think Karl Malone is a wennie-head?"

I would vote 'yes' to that also.

I'm the 21st person to vote yes. Quite frankly you people who want to peacfully voice your opinions against those few of us who did vote for him thats fine. I understand that Karl is one of the dirtiest players and that he has been a bane to this team for years and years. On the other hand I think the rest of you who are blowing people's opinions out of proportion should step back and see exactly how hypocritical this is. How many times have any of you said something along the lines of: "We need a big physical bruiser at PF who can still hit the mid range jumper." or "We need an enforcer at PF."? Now someone asks if we can get someone who is one of the best at all of this and we're terrible people for saying yes? Hypocrites... all o'ya.

I don't know. It's defintely always a risk, but this 40-year old looks like he could play til' he's 50.

There's a reason they don't let fans make player personel decisions. Emotional response are intergral to being fans, and that's great, but they have little or no place in business/basketball decisions.

There are such things as degrees. Enforcer doesn't have to equal dirty and smart doesn't have to equal cheating. Malone would be an even greater 'enforcer' if he carried a gun on the court. And you'd probably still want him.

You know, this isn't some reality show where we, as fans, are willing to do whatever we have to to win the million bucks. This is a team that we support or don't at our pleasure. I've supported them since I was old enough to follow the games, but if Genghis Khan could conceivably help us win, I'd still say no to acquiring him.

The question isn't could Karl Malone add wins; it's would we want to acquire him. And ANY Rockets fan who was a fan when we played the Jazz back then in the playoffs would vote no. Frankly I'm kind of amazed there isn't more outcry against the idea of acquiring J. Rose, but with Malone the cheap, dirty, cheating play is systemic, spanning his entire career. The day Malone joins the Rockets is the day they become my least favorite team. On that day I won't want any team to win as much as I'd want the Rockets to lose. They might one day win a championship but how could I, as a true, lifelong fan of the team, ever enjoy it? Answer: I couldn't.

Calling Rockets fans who are still pissed at Malone's career-long record of dirty, cheating play against the Rockets hypocrites is about the dumbest thing I've seen here since ElGrande Queso and Troy Barros stunk up these boards. The only thing I can divine from the 21 yes votes is that some of you are just too young or too ignorant to remember our history with this *******. And that's giving you the benefit of the doubt.

There are many other PFs that are enforcers and bruisers that we can pick up. I would look at the other PFs before looking at that sorry Jazzhole. He's on his way to retirement and even if he stepped up against us, it's always a vendetta w/ him when he plays the Rockets.

Oh, btw, I voted Yes. Of course.

We have a need at the 4. Our needs would be amply filled by Malone. He would make us a better team.

Do I like him? Not at all...is he a cheap shot artist? Yes. But those are reasons to cheer against him as a fan, not decide against him as a GM. The only kind of player I would be against due to character would be a player whose character is a detriment to his play, like Kemp, to his team, like Rodman. I might make an exception for a player who intentionally tries to hurt other players, like Bowen, but that would be a tough call, and while Karl is a cheap shot bully, I;ve never heard of him trying to hurt someone's career.

Just curious. How did you feel when the Rockets acquired Charles Barkley then because it would be a very similar scenario. The Rockets had wars with Barkley's Suns. Barkley was public enemy #1 for at least two seasons in the early 90's, yet I didn't hear a lot of boos when he became a Rocket. I'd imagine the same would happen if Malone joined the team. Just a thought. Me personally, I would sign Genghis Khan, Atilla the Hun, and the Grand Inquisitor if I thought they would help the Rockets win more games. Malone?..........depends on the price because at his age I'm sure you could get him at a bargain price (although I think his LA contract is good for at least another year isn't it?).

Winning at all costs is an overrated concept. If I knew for sure that the Rockets would win every game for all history if they'd just shoot Olajuwon in the head, I'd still say no. But what do I know? I'm just an emotional fan. Maybe those smarties in the business office would know better.

Portland deserved the reputation they earned and they did what they had to to correct it. Basketball is a business yes, but it's a business in which character counts. Fans pay the bills and, while they want wins, they don't necessarily want them at any cost. There are limits. Barkley, yes; Malone, hell no. Jesse Jackson wanted to be president but if winning meant putting David Duke on the ticket I'd like to think he would have said he didn't want to win that bad.

I won't root for a dirty, flopping cheat. An emotional response? Okay, fine. But it's the fans, with their emotional responses, that pay the bills. Signing Malone would be a horrible business move -- it would be a case of the organization turning its back on lifelong fans and they'd turn theirs right back.

That's funny. I mentioned Barkley just before reading your post. Barkley was an ass. He was a jerk. But he wasn't dirty. He was fun to boo when he was with Philly and Phoenix and fun to cheer when he was a Rocket. Malone was a dirty cheat. No self respecting Rockets fan could ever cheer him. Personally I feel the same way about J. Rose, but that was one really bad incident. Malone's career is full of them.

So you've found my limit. What's yours? You'd sign Genghis Khan, etc. Would you be in favor of brass knuckles? Knife fights? I mean, if they'd help us win and all.
