I think the issue was Melo was never a pure shooter, he was a scorer. As this is a pretty significant difference, where he needs the ball to be effective to score and was NEVER used to getting the ball in positions to score right away (Klay Thompson/Curry). Melo for what ever reason was never able to hone the ability to play off the ball and prep in to shoot efficiently when passed the ball, he has to get into rhythm in order to get hot.

Jeff Green has somehow filled the role that we thought Melo would fill, except he actually plays better help defense because he effectively tries to pick up the slack of his team mates. As where Melo is used to only being the one who gets lost on the play and has someone else pick up his slack for him.

I really wanted Melo to work out here when we had finally signed him a few seasons ago, it was really too much to ask for at that point in his career and with so much uncertainty already with Chris Paul coming over here. Chris Paul is one of those players who is entirely capable of spotting up and shooting the basketball effectively but chooses not to because he deems distributing the ball, making plays on offense and defense is more important than scoring. If he had really bought into the "playing off the ball" idea he would have really extended his career much longer than its currently on track to right now.

Heck even James Harden is able to spot up and shoot the ball but he also chooses not to develop that skill because his biggest strength right now is the ability to draw contact, make plays and score. This may finally be the playoffs that we'll see his FT average not suffer in the playoffs because there's no fans to heckle the referees into or out of foul calls they would normally make during the regular season. It just falls to the rest of the Rockets to score when Harden isn't able to score, which is scary in itself because the rest of the team is really streaky. How does a team build around a 3pt shooting aspect but isn't able to find ONE 3pt specialist?

Jeff Green's story varied... true, at some point he could have been out of the league too.

He was never considered a super star.

It's weird how LeBron looks so much older than Anthony when he's actually younger. Must be that big beard with grey in it.

I have absolutely no idea how he's doing in Portland. I guess, he wasn't done as the Rockets had thought he was, after he was shipped out.

I'm not a fan of Carmelo personally, but, eh I guess someone is happy with his play on their team.
