That same energy could be used to find defensive lapses in every single game multiple times by literally every player in the league. Have you watched Lebron the last 3 years? Curry? Dame? Luka? Hardens defense is vastly improved. He's not even remotely close to being the defensive issue in Brooklyn.
We have seen this before........get a big lead and drop the intensity instead of stepping on the throat
Yup, a lot of stuff I've seen from him is things I have never seen from him as a Rocket. He looks completely out of rhythm. Its really....idk off putting.
I dont know man, this has been a really weird year for him. He's still the best offensive player on Brooklyn, but he's not the MVP we are used to seeing, its strange.
The problem is you cant play switch on defense in the playoffs. That type of defense only works in spurts during the regular season.
Our defense that season was consistent and way better than anything that brooklyn has displayed thus far. Even Detroit can play good defense for one game. The champs play good defense most of the time not once in a while.
He's talking about playing switch defense. We literally did that in the playoffs and did it beautifully against GSW.
Right, I agree. I was talking more about the concept of the switch defensive scheme. Brooklyn's defense has been awful and they have a lot of work to do on that end of the floor.
They really dont have the personnel for it. both kyrie and harden are pretty bad perimeter defenders. the players we had made up for james being horrible defensively on the perimeter and we often switched him to the big guy in the middle where he was good to average on defense. thats not happpening in bk often.
Harden doesn’t play well with Irving. Harden defers way too often and doesn’t really have a consistent roll. When Irving was out he and KD were exceptional.
The Nets showed in that first half they can pretty much blow anyone out of the water and that was with KD. Now they need to improve on that and play it more consistently
Harden isn’t “horrible defensively” on the perimeter. He has been a solid perimeter defender for years. The issues last year were that Westbrook is one of the worst perimeters in basketball. Kyrie Irving is a bad defender across the board and he makes it worse because he doesn’t communicate. DeAndre Jordan has lost several steps and is no longer a good defender. He rotates too slow. Harris tries on defense but he has physical limitations. Realistically they need to add a float defender and ideally a defensive minded guard.
Listen we can say solid if you want but what you really mean is that he's sometimes solid. other times he's on the other side of the floor and his man is wide open. harden is a ball watcher and he tries to cheat to steal to his credit he gets a lot of deflections and steals but unfortunately his man is often left wide open. he also doesnt have the quickest lateral movement so he has trouble most times staying in front of his man.
