ClutchFans Game Thread: Rockets @ Hornets 2/8/2021

I understand guys need rest, especially when coming off of injuries, but too many healthy dudes are taking games off these days. It’s just a trend in the league that I don’t care for at all. There’s no reason Wall and Gordon couldn’t have come in when the wheels were falling off in the 4th quarter. And, yeah, I know why they do it, I just don’t personally like it. That was a winnable game if you didn’t self impose your two best ball handlers to the bench. Just a strange decision.

 

John Wall spends more time taking shots at players who are no longer here than he does on the court for The Rockets.

 

When was the last time he criticized Harden?

Really excited about tomorrows game without Dipo. We'll be missing Wood for sure but at least wont have Dipo dragging us down.

We have the pieces but are not deep enough to be resting players - ..we need all hands on deck.

If I'm Stone, I look to trade Oladipo as an expiring ASAP.

Just to have him off the roster would be awesome, it'd give us a chance to see how some of these other guys can develop. The season is a thorough wash.

I was thinking we might let Oladipo expire, but it's just not a smart move to keep him around to see if he can play for us on a smaller contract when he's not showing much of an upside on this roster. He's going to get a fat contract somewhere else and he's not worth that much to us. Trading him now is the best way to move forward here.

 

Haha remember when people were so happy about our change of offense without Harden?

How beautiful is the pump fake (and not taking a better shot) dribble into defenders and pass it back out for a much more contested (and much worse than the original) shot.

I also really, really, really like the high school basketball offensive approach.

"the ball MUST start at the top of the key in the middle of the floor every possession"... y-a-w-n. The centre touches the ball far too many times in this useless position. It accomplishes absolutely nothing and wastes time off the clock. It's exactly the same as Harden walking the ball up for 7.9 seconds.

This team is extremely boring without John Wall & CWood.

 

Firstly, it's Charlotte and not NO. Secondly, tonight Rockets team without Wood, Wall, and Gordon are worse than the Wizards and Pistons. What subs could Silas have made? They were all playing terribly. This whole notion of resting star players in back to back games is simply getting annoying. They are supposed to be pros for god sake.

 

I think having Wall re-injured with us on the hook for the remaining years of his bloated contract would be significantly "more annoying" than anything we're feeling atm.
Or Olapido getting injured again and then walking away after the season with no asset at all coming back.

Of course it should be much "easier" for our pro's to stay healthy.
I mean they do have the added advantage of having the ever-diligent eyes of "Keith Jones" watching over them!
Kinda puts a warm feeling in my heart! Or is that my stomach?

 

if we can’t score 10 points a quarter with our bench, then we DO NOT have the pieces. It’s amazing how your narrative is entirely independent of truth/fact, entirely based on if you personally like the team or not.

Harden's durability was worth the Max. His skill was icing on the cake.

 

Yeah, we won so much with him this year before he left. Tainted glasses. I'm glad iso Harden's gone. I don't miss him one bit. Go root for the Nets if you miss him so much. I'll root for the guys that want to be here.

The veteran pieces don't fit. Gordon and Tucker are the remnants of Moreyball. Wall and Booger are former all-stars but it's not like you see them as core pieces, other than Wall's contract. Oladipo just got stuck at IAH or something.
