Dipo is making it super easy for an extension....on Eric Gordon. At this point Id rather pay 30M to Eg than Dipo lol what the heck is that other than a couple good games he been trash.
Dude keeps playing like this and he will really retreat turning down that $25m. He will be lucky to get a Cousins contract.
Nah they both overpaid IMO. You can still flip Dipo for a FRP at the deadline which is a lot better than Simmons' max+15% trade kicker.
I think everyone is going to be disappointed when nothing happens again at the deadline and free agency. Oladipo is here for one reason, and that reason is savings. There are no plans to take on any long term contract, and certainly no plans to spend for a max type player. The team will spend for a "value" player like CWood this summer though, which can be a good thing.
No, the things he struggles with are things you dont learn... he makes bad reads, his passes got bad trajectory, his handle is rookie level etc. I think hes just bad developed bball player on offense. Nothing more than very good/elite 3 and d
There is no max available player that is good this summer anyway. Dipo getting moved for a FRP is a massive win IMO bumping the Harden trade to 40M savings, 5 picks and 4 swaps.
I didn't like the way he approaches offense since his first game. I hope those Brooklyn picks will pan out to be great because right now Ben Simmons is WAY better basketball player all around. Better on defense, better on offense, younger and without injuries. I hope Oladipo knows he is worth less than EG right now because he is just a role player
I’ve always kind of believed that Oladipo is nothing more to this team than a flip for draft picks at the deadline or a big expiring contract that Tilman could let walk away at the end of the year. I’m fine with either one of those options in theory, but my gut tells me that it’s more of a business move than a basketball one, and that means Oladipo was acquired for savings. I hope that’s not true, but I have no doubt that Tilman is still trying to save money at the end of the day.
If the Rockets keep dropping games with Wood out, you have to start seriously making calls on Dipo. He just hasn't played well enough to justify giving him $30M a year moving forward, and he can still net you picks and young prospects. I like the guy and I want him to work out, but the needle is moving the opposite direction right now. If they're serious about rebuilding for the future, move Oladipo while you still can to maximize the value from the Harden trade.
