You might have stopped after the first eight words. But you make a great point about his production.

I'm the biggest Wood homer here and I don't think he's a superstar YET. I definitely think he can be one in a few years though. In my eyes a superstar is a legitimate MVP candidate. Dame is the worst superstar. Russ, PG, Mitchell, Trae, Tatum, Simmons, Sabonis, Gobert, Beal, Kyrie to me are not superstars. It's not an insult to say Wood isn't a superstar if those guys aren't superstars.

Over 1.3 points per shot, excellent rebounding, excellent turnover rate and very good defense.

I would say he's at least on the brink. Needs to add muscle like Clint, and force his way to the line a few more times a game to be in Anthony Davis territory.

Davis is trying so hard to create like a wing, can't do it like Wood.

    Let's discern here.

Dame and Russ of 2016/17 are probably the best of the 'borderline superstars'.

Borderline superstars : Russ of the past and not now (MVP season and prior), Beal (but he is getting there fast), PG13

Upcoming superstars not there yet (with more than 2 seasons on their resume) : Tatum, Mitchell, Trae

Only a star: Kyrie, Sabonis, Simmons

Gobert is just a borderline star IMO, cannot really create his shot.

I think Beal can become a superstar, he is that good and he got potential to the top.

Kyrie is interesting, he is a Top 5 scorer and best ball handler hands down but lacks in other departments.

Wood has to produce those numbers and better numbers for more than 2 season before he can be in this conversation.

Classic example of using selective stats to make Larry Bird look great.

You have to be color blind not to see it.

He's a stud, probably and hopefully hasn't reached his ceiling. Starting at 20 pts 10 rebs isn't a bad start though.

Funny how some people say a superstar has to create for others, you mean include teammates right? Try not to overly bash our best player. He at least tries on both sides of the for. From day 1.

    "Superstar level"??

Not just no but hell no.

He's been very impressive thus far but to say he's not just a star (or playing like a star) but a superstar???

People throw around the word Great and superstar WAY too much.

Wood, before this second injury, was definitely playing at the level of a genuine "Star" player during the relatively brief time we've had him, in my opinion. However, there's not nearly enough games under his belt to even begin to discuss whether he's at that "superstar" level or will ever reach it. Let the guy have a full season or two and excelling in the playoffs before getting into this discussion, @durvasa, again in my opinion.

If he works hard he can be a “superstar”. He has the tools. Few get there though.

Star, but not superstar. But he can get there.

I think Wall is playing closer to Super Star level.

While superstar is hard to pin down in definition, if you have to ask or think about it, then it is a no.

He has been playing very well, but he is obviously in a lower tier than the top big men in the league. He was playing like an all-star reserve perhaps, and has superstar potential, but no, he has not been playing on a superstar level.

You tried to start an argument with me over Christian Wood being a superstar, when I said he wasn’t one but he was all-star caliber. I never cared what label you wanted to apply to him, but you wanted to make a thing out of me saying I didn’t consider 20, 10, and 55 as sufficient for saying a player is at a superstar level (or same level as Giannis, Jokic, Embiid). The quotes are there and clear as day. You called that “contrarian”, despite the vast majority of people here agreeing with me on that point (as indicated in this thread).

Your pivot that you never said he was superstar, only all-star level is especially lame. There was never any dispute over whether Wood was playing at an all-star level. You were trying to get others to agree that he was playing at the same level as 3 established, MVP players and throwing in my face some stupid ESPN infographic as evidence of this.

And if you haven’t figured it out, I have no interest in debating you. Not because I’m a coward, but because you don’t know how to argue without resorting to insults.

He IS playing at that level before his 2nd injury.

You disputed that and came up with the "superstar" angle to finagle your way out of arguing the merits of your contrarian position.

How can you argue that Wood was not producing at the level OR BETTER than Giannis, Jokic, Embiid, Sabonis thus far THIS season - YOU COULD NOT.

    Hence this BS poll.

You are a coward and you know it.

State this so called “contrarian position” of mine and actually quote me on it. I will defend or retract any position that I stated. Not ones that you imagined I said.
