Heh, I just discovered the greatness of this album almost one year ago today. https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/music-what-are-you-listening-to.130363/page-592#post-12821675
Yes, everybody talks about "Architecture and Morality" being OMD's masterpiece but I would argue that it is "Dazzle Ships".
So, when it comes to OMD's songs, I used to always think it was a no-brainer that "If You Leave" was the best and it still rates very high with me but "Enola Gay" is such a great song as well as is "Souvenir". But the best song, I think is this one:
My rating of OMD's studio albums (out of 5 stars): self-titled - 3.5/5 Organisation - 4/5 Architecture and Morality - 5/5 Dazzle Ships - 5/5 Junk Culture - 3.5/5 (a little overrated) Crush - 3/5 The Pacific Age - 3.5/5 (underrated) Sugar Tax - 2.5/5 Liberator - 2.5/5 Universal - 2/5 History of Modern - 3.5/5 English Electric - 4/5 The Punishment of Luxury - 4/5
I had forgotten how great of an album the Diamond Head "Lightning to the Nations" was. Truly one of the great underrated albums of all-time.
Captain Beyond - s/t Klaus Schulze - Mirage The Captain Beyond album is another highly underrated and unknown album like Diamond Head's. Featuring a supergroup of the original lead singer of Deep Purple, 2 members of Iron Butterfly, and the drummer from Johnny Winter's group - this album is so good.
Jeff Beck's expressions are priceless. He knew. She was barely 20 when she first started playing with him. Sadly, on this clip her bass is barely audible due to the recording...but it's Zappa.
This was another song I liked playing in the record store due to the low rumble that would rattle windows and cause a stir next door. A great album by Robert Palmer...
