She did nothing of the sort. I realize many of you here get shrinkage at the thought of AOC, and look for anything to degrade her. But no matter what you want to believe, the articles make it clear that she was fully up front about where she was and what actually happened. And the strength of her language was to emphasize a point - conservatives are trying to move on after attempting a violent insurrection. Anyone who refuses to understand this is just another example of the useless "white moderate" that MLK said was the biggest obstacle to justice.
WTF are you talking about, I love AOC and want her to do big things but she got over her skis here plain and simple.
Word. https://www.africa.upenn.edu/Articles_Gen/Letter_Birmingham.html I must make two honest confessions to you, my Christian and Jewish brothers. First, I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season." Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.
This **** is hilarious ya'll could not wait to attack "Neo Liberals" whatever the **** that is. I knew it was coming all of this pent up rage.
Played it up how? Seems more like others are are playing up what she was doing to try and litigate how scared AOC truly should’ve been that day. She’s lucky none of the rioters reached her. It’s not surprising that having to be evacuated because a bunch crazies are storming a building your office is connected to hunting for government officials could be traumatizing.
Most of us here know your history well enough to understand that you're neither a neoliberal nor a true "order-oriented moderate" (and thus obviously not a GOP conservative either). However, in this particular thread you resorted to the kind of commentary and faux hypocrisy outrage that they often use. That's never a good look. Again, AOC was upfront from the beginning about where she was and what happened in her immediate sphere. She's not playing the victim so much as using strong language to demand accountability from the GOP, who are doing everything humanly possible to pretend Jan 6 never happened.
Actually, I'm the one poking fun, at how you often call progressives divisive when calling out neolibs, but here you are calling out AOC, and now it's just poking fun. No AOC isn't untouchable, nobody is, or ever was.
What history, just look in the AOC thread and I have said much more positive about her but unlike you I can also be critical where I see fit. WTF is a order-oriented moderate? Why all the ****in labels? None of this was outrage, that's why I made the title that I did, stop hero worshipping and take it easy, she overplayed the danger she was actually in and like I said I have no issue with her fear at the moment but you don't see all the other legislators who where just as scared going on instagram. Just sayin tone it down a bit and she knows she has a target on her back so she needs to be extra careful. I am all here for her sticking it to republicans just stop making it about her personally.
If you would actually go back and read I said she should have felt very scared and in danger but so did a lot of other people do you see Pelosi going on Instagram and talk shows talking about her fear? She is making this too much about her. Don't try and make this about how she felt in the moment I truly understand how she felt but she has had enough time to realize others were much more in danger so her and her feelings should not be the story. This is a very bad look because nobody is gonna actually look at what she said because its been played up like people where at her door, now a lot of that is from the media but she played along and made it personal. I know this is not fair but that's politics.
Yes, those claiming that she professed to have been at the capital building were wrong. But AOC tried to play up the drama she faced and seemed to be exaggerating. I think people can be scared and traumatized even if they weren't at the actual capital building, but there is no need to exaggerate things.
She said nothing about the attack that was false. So your problem is with her reaction to the attack on the Capitol by a right wing mob. Consider how you would feel in that situation after being the target of virulent rape and assassination threats for 2 years. I'm glad she's going on Instagram to describe the horror she felt during the attack, because there is a coordinated effort by Republicans to down play January 6 for obvious reasons.
Uh yes, and rightfully so. She did a freaking 60 minutes on it She's made tons of comments, interviews and statements about Jan 6th (I have to emphasize this again because I'm talking to you, AS SHE SHOULD). AOC is young and does Instagram and talk shows, Pelosi is old and deos news interviews and statements. Dude it's got to be exhausting to be you. Just quit being so divisive brah, you don't got to create fake drama to slam AOC.
