Over the course of this season, I have been very impression with Jae'Sean Tate. Tate has a great feel for the game and is solid. He has versatility on defense and can play against players bigger than him. I see some similarities between his game and many other Rocket players known for defense such as the following players.

Chuck Hayes: versatile like Tate because he could guard multiple positions; moreso a PF/C whereas Tate is a SG/SF/PF hybrid; very strong and is hard to move in the post; both guys are undersized but it is rarely a disadvantage; was a better rebounder than Tate but Tate has a superior offensive gave

Shane Battier: personally, I think he is most similar to Tate than anyone on this list; both guys are disciplined defensive guys and make smart decisions; rarely make boneheaded plays; similar capabilities in the rebounding department; great fundaments; both guys have a low post game; bigger than Tate; never had Tate's handles

Ron Artest: very strong; can guard multiple positions; didn't have exceptional athleticism nor hops but still was a solid defender; not as disciplined of a defender; offensively, I do see some similarities; both guys post op and finish well with the left hand

PJ Tucker: similar to Tate in terms of size but is stronger; is a solid defensive player like Tate that can guard bigger guys and can contain quick small forwards; doesn't have great stats but affects the game way more than what his stats indicate; not as good of a ball handler nor as versatile of an offensive player as Tate; a better shooter than Tate; very great work ethic

Trevor Ariza: a glue guy similar to Tate; versatility in guarding multiple positions; streaky shooter; dribbling skills lacking unlike Tate; gambled more on defense

Luc mBah a Moute: another glue guy that can guard multiple guys

I really hope that Tate can continue to blossom and that he can reach his potential. He definitely seems to have the work ethic and the intangibles requisite to success. What a great find by Stone!

Mix of PJ Tucker (hustle, girth), Draymond Green (playmaking, body positioning), and Tony Allen (1 on 1 defense, instincts).

Ron Ron. Built like a tank. can handle the ball and bully his way in the paint. great perimeter defender with a respectable 3 point shot.

His entire game reminds me a ton of a larger Bev. He's got surprisingly solid handles with driving/finishing/passing abilities for his size, but even while solid those skills and overall offensive impact are considerably limited for both players. His 3PT shot isn't as butter yet of course but it's respectable, both are great all-out hustle and physicality players on D.

Physically, he's a little different than each of above in build. Clearly has a nose for the ball and even a little post-up. The biggest difference I think about is his ball-handling and play making, which made me choose prince Luc!....what a difference a healthy Luc would have been the 65 -win year.

Tate is going to be a monster for us once he learns how not to pick up preventable fouls.*

*Or once the refs stop treating him like a rookie, take your pick.

He is an Artest that I hope evolves into a Shane Battier at some point.

Obviously no 1-to-1 but the first ths came to mind was Mario Ellie because he plays like a junk yard dog.

Unless my memory is severely skewed, the Anthony Mason comp has been way oversold. It was an interesting thought, but Mason was a very different player.

The dude has a low center of gravity, which doesn't make much sense to me because he's not small either.

    For that, I say Chuckwagon.

Bonzi Wells as a Rocket? I have no memory of anything he did well in Houston, outside of like 1 game where he was on fire.
