Saw the headline while I was reading about the tragic circumstances of Michael o'Hare.

The B5 cast did not get any breaks...

Babylon 5 and Lost actress Mira Furlan has died at the age of 65, her family and management have confirmed.

Furlan played Minbari Ambassador Delenn in the 1990s sci-fi TV drama, Babylon 5, and Danielle Rousseau in the noughties mystery drama, Lost.

Her family told the BBC the Croatian actress died on Wednesday due to complications with West Nile Virus.

"It is with great sadness that I confirm the passing of Mira Furlan" the statement read.

"She was a woman full of kindness, strength and compassion."

It continued: "She died peacefully at her home in Los Angeles, surrounded by her family.

"We will all continue to celebrate her life and legacy, and know she'll always be here with us."

It’s insane how much of the Babylon 5 cast has passed away.

One of the best sci-fi shows ever. A new HD version was just made available for streaming on HBO Max. The CGI is just upscaled because they never rendered it in HD, and the show is in 4:3 because they didn't render the effects in widescreen (even though it was filmed with 16:9 in mind). Still, it’s probably the best the show will ever look.

I watched some on Max and was thinking it looked a lot better than the blurry mess I saw on prime...

That's sad.. Cloris Leachman and Cicely Tyson were sad but they were in their 90's while Mira Furlan was only 65..

I was Babylon 5 and still think it was one of the best written shows on TV. The competition between Babylon 5 and DS9 whether intentional or not I think made both shows better. The big story arc of Babylon 5 paved the way for the big story arc's of later sci fi shows such as BSG and The Expanse.

This article goes into how she was exiled for standing up for civil rights while Yugoslavia was ripping itself apart. She went from national actress to waiting on tables because she did what she thought was right. The governemnt really did a number on her and her husband with the press.

Her deeply articulate blog articles on her website shares an insight of what we're going through now as a nation and how much it could grow worse because it happened to her original country.

It seems that truth does eventually find its way with time.

We continue to lose far too many of those who's profession is entertaining us. Taking us away from the mundane of everyday life staring us in the face. To be honest, it had been so long since I watched Babylon 5 (which I have on disc) that I didn't realize who she was until I saw her image as Deleenn. I'll be checking out the remastered version on HBOMax. I was a Babylon 5 fan while it was on, eagerly awaiting each new episode.

She died from complications due to West Nile Virus? I had almost forgotten about it. Rest in peace, Ms. Furlan.

The Babylon 5 curse continues... I never watched Babylon 5 during its run but binge-watched it a couple of years ago and realized it ranked among the best sci-fi series for me. So many of that cast died way too young. It's like if Picard, Riker, Troi, Laforge, etc. were dead right now for ST fans.

    R.I.P. Delenn. :(
