Yeah it’s part of my company policy and I see the same on female executives. I hate having my neck constrained so as a rule I don’t wear ties unless I’m officiating a wedding, my neck gets really stiff if I can’t move it around a lot. I’ve met with executives with a nice button up shirt, sport coat, slacks and cowboy boots on when the other folks are in a tie. I never get any pushback because it’s Texas and I’m a big and confident guy who gets along with almost everyone. I’ve thought about challenging the status quo on gender double standards but I know that although I would win I would lose the political game and get labeled as a rule breaker/black sheep even more than I am now. The funny thing is the brass likes how I push people and ignore politics to get projects done so I enjoy a level of protection and respect. The ironic thing about women’s dress is that if they did wear a suit and a tie they would be labeled a lesbian and be somewhat ostracized from climbing the ladder. No one would mess with them because men are scared of strong women but they certainly wouldn’t want them at the big boy table. They prefer pretty women with tank tops that laugh at their jokes.
Criticizing a woman for what she's wearing has become the biggest taboo. Like she can wear a brown paper bag with tassels and if I say something about how unprofessional she's dressed I'm waaaay out of line. It's so dumb.
Women had to wear pantyhose for like.....forever in the workplace. As well as bras. Pretty sure that should exempt them from any dress code for several decades. And all that shaving and makeup...... Glad I’m male.....we got it good.
I went to the social security office once and this chick had on a white wife beater...with a silky scarf. She was a good looking blonde so she pulled it off and obviously no one at the office said anything.
Agreed. Of course I went to work today in shorts, polo, and chucks. It pays to be self employed! Then again, my receptionist was in jeans and a tshirt...
AOC has had moments similar to this with defense contractors and pharmaceuticals. I don't know you have to put her down to prop up Porter who is also amazing.
Its a lot about communication too. i'd say AOC had some good points on this But at the sametime falls for hyperbole that can be counter productive. Messaging and branding is integral for many of these things. Fox news was down talking that they hope George Floyd's killer is getting charger, but still many were talking about "Defund the Police" Who the organizers themselves say isn't about removing the police entirely or taking away any funds, but reforming the incentives and levels of funding, etc. but the name itself has people discussing that and its so easy to use against them as well. Porter is downright impressive. Bernie and Ted cruz's debate showed one person who was passionate, but ill prepared, without details and examples and the other had them ready and stories that would hit the heart of the audience. Porter is prepared, organized, illustrates in simple forms, asks the right direct question and basically took these supposed billion dollar minds and had them looking quite silly. Porter 2024
are drug prices gonna fall under biden, or is this just publicity/branding? asking for a friend holding pharma shares...
Why do you think I am putting her down? I am saying Porter should be mentioned as much as her not that AOC should be denigrated. Chill my guy.
