Will the league allow the Rockets to win a title now that Harden is no longer on the team?

Sounds like a strange question, but im dead-on serious. Their was just no way we were winning title with Harden in Houston with how he was officiated in the playoffs

But now it seems like the rockets for the first time since the dragic/lowry days are no longer the heel team in the league now that Harden is gone. Im cool with it, because it if it means we get better officiating in the playoffs that'll be great

Stephen Silas also unlike Dantoni seems to be the new babyface coach who is liked by all media members and the podcast members around the league. So he may get more leeway and respect in the playoffs( and i do think this years rockets team will be in the playoffs). The advanced stats of this rockets team since the Harden trade is eye popping.

Now we wait and see if the league will allow us to be physical in the playoffs. I remmeber when harden was here, the talk around the league was that harden wont get the same calls he got in the regular season in the playoffs. Which was always strange to me because guards in the past like Kobe, Wade and MJ were always reffed the same in the postseason and regular season. Certainly didnt have the drastic free-throw rate dropoff in the postseason like Harden during his playoff career compared to the regular season

    Anyways Go Rox

I honestly don’t think it was as much anti Harden is it was pro Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors. He’ll probably get calls now that he’s in BKN on a team with multiple marquee names.

    It was definetely anti-harden.
They don't want a bearded fat man who likes strip clubs and iso-ball to be a champion.

Warriors were more appealing to the general viewer.

Sure. Will our talent allow us to win a title is a whole other matter.

It has nothing to do with James. As long as the Rockets hypothetically are in title contention and in the playoffs have to play The warriors or Lakers or whatever star like Luka or that dude from the Bucks that the NBA is obsessing over they will not get fair treatment.

yea i dont even think james going to philly with morey would have helped harden get calls in the playoffs. He made the right choice. Because Durant and Kyrie are not afraid to bite their tongue, and they are big enough names and have huge fanbases to the point where if the league tried some funny s*it in the playoffs they would risk backlash. When Morey and the rockets complained about the refs, it was seen as us whining. But the cache that Durant Kyrie have in the league will resonate more loudly among nba circles

Irony for a great story would be Rockets vs Nets. Just saying, would be funny as hell to see James lose to the rockets. If somehow the rockets did a trade to bring in some unknown player, that propels them to finals by keeping Wow factor. Just saying. Kevin Porter jr? Na...

If you had 1 championship that be nice one to get, just like that. Pipe Dream. Harden be like wtf rockets good without me.

Also he is now in NYC area. He is already getting positive media stories...they like him now. You know the NBA is salivating for a LA/NYC final.

Well, if you added one of those poles, wouldn't that just make Adam Silver not want Rockets to win a 'chip again?

No, because the Lakers still exist and they have Lebron on top of that, the face of the league.

Adam Silver wants to grow the league international so badly he'll do everything he can to make sure the most popular team wins it all.

Raptors only won because they got lucky. Warriors with only Curry, Draymond and refs weren't enough.

The only time I see this team winning is if the Lakers are no longer in playoff contention and another mass bandwagon team doesn't appear.

How did the league cause them to go 0-27? Granted, according to Morey, a couple should have been fouls, but the league didn't cost them that game. Their historically bad shooting did.

I would speculate that it wasn't the only time Morey did vex the league with tweets or other things, they were well aware of what he was trying to do.

Convicing the league his 3 and layup system is the way to go and have the refs believe that too.

Pretty much this. This Rockets team will not be nearly as dependent on fouls in the playoffs, nor as predictable offensively as the Harden teams. The fact that they're seen as more likeable by fans and analysts doesn't hurt, but I'm not sure it makes a difference in the postseason anyway.

The issue really is talent. The Rockets are are talented and deep and they have three really good players in Wood, Oladipo and Wall, but no one I'd consider great. When was the last time we saw a team make the Finals without a borderline top 10 guy on the roster? I just don't think this team has the talent to pull it off, but I'd love to be proven wrong.

The "league" hasn't allowed the Rockets to win a title since 1995. Harden just graduated from kindergarten.
