Just ship the guy out for best deal possible im tired of athletes getting paid millions to play a kids game, I'm a city of Houston sports fan first never been individual player fan if you don't want to play for my team then gtfo I said it with harden and I actually like the team as is now, but that said I still root for the texans on GameDay but like many here I will stop spending money until mcnairaby are gone
Lol do you even know who chase young is? Anyways... the market is set extremely high after that Stafford trade
Goff is a negative asset - a mediocre QB with a massive contract. If they hadn't traded Goff, the price would have probably just been a mid-tier 1st round pick and maybe the 3rd. But Stafford is old - you're not getting a QB for the next 10 years, so I don't think it tells us too much about Watson's potential trade value one way or another, unfortunately.
The Rams are a good QB away from being a Superbowl contender right now, so they are going for it. And they are offloading a crappy QB contract in the process.
Yep. Screw that guy lol. Anti-authority sentiment is appealing with people now. Easy to tap to people's frustrations vs the system and support the distressed individual. But he's acting like the only qb to work under setbacks. Aaron Rodgers waited 3 years, then was 6-10 his first full season as starter. Peyton Manning's first 4 seasons, 2 were losing records. Jared Goff didnt win a game first season, then Super Bowl in his 3rd. This is like already "ring chasing" by 3rd year.
Right - they did it when they had less influence and power than Watson, and without having any real good reason for it. They screwed over franchises who owned their draft rights, despite being literal nobodies in the NFL at the time. And the NFL did nothing about it. Whether they signed a first contract or a 2nd one or none at all is pretty irrelevant.
At the end of the day QB is the hardest position in all KD sports. It requires a complete buy in and the effort. When players begin to question their QB, teams have problems. The Houston Texans will not want to have a QB that doesn’t want to play for them, a QB that doesn’t represent them. That is why they will ultimately trade him. Watson is serious. He leaked he wanted to be traded. He has refused to return any phone calls from the Texans. Last I heard he has removed all connection to the Houston Texans from his social media. Watson signed that contract knowing he could get out when he wanted. In the exchange for that the Texans get any spoils for trading him and not losing him for nothing. Texans fans have every right to be angry at an inept owner and a QB (Watson) that had no real interest in honoring his commitment but wanted financial security.
Will still be interesting how this unprecedented situation takes hold... and its ramifications for the rest of the league and how commitments are made to QB’s. Cal doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing... he could take the road of not wanting a QB who doesn’t want to be here... or he could be getting influenced by other owners who don’t want him to set the awful precedent of QB entitlement. The Texans may never lose him for nothing... even if they hold on to him this year, next year, etc. The Stafford trade shows you how a QB will always have increased value... but it also takes a team like the Rams, who are going for it all, to offer the multiple first round picks that a rebuilding team may find too valuable to part with.
Would they all be Rams picks? Because then we would just get a bunch of late first rounders. I guess we can trade 2 or 3 of them to move up.
Um..they didn't have anything to lose. They were not even drafted yet. Also, The NFL has put in multiple items in the CBA to prevent holding out. The money Watson would lose is STAGGERING and he wouldn't get service time. Basically the contract would just be moved to the next year...with no subtraction for the past year. Watson are betting the Texans don't want to do that. I think Cal is crazy enough to do it.
