First of all, I saw that thread about Doc Rocket and how some people want to crank up their rep or their post count or disrespect or whatever. Let me just say that I was about the 12th guy to post on this board when it all began back in 1996. If you mess with me, I kick your assssparagus, ok?! Anyway, there was a little party at the NBA Store here in midtown and there was some of the execs that will be at the draft this week. So of course, I wait until some of the clients have something to drink and then I try and get some info from them. Anyway, I talked to a couple of guys and in general they all say that Houston won't be moving up on Wednesday. The consensus is that we don't have the ammunition. There is definite interest from Vancouver if Houston had a high enough pick to couple with the other three. Vancouver wants to move down and they want multiple picks. A couple of things I heard was that Eddie Curry has all the tools to be the man in the league in upcoming years. But there is some concern that he might get lazy and gain ALOT of weight after getting that 3 year deal (sound familiar?). A couple of the producers of the program think Kwame Brown will be the first pick to Washington. Shane Battier probably going to Atlanta and there is some buzz about Sagana Diop dropping as low as 10th. Everyone seems to think that all the high school potential stars will be gone within the first 8 picks! Damn. This one guy (who I will never forget because he wore a red shirt with a white tie and black jacket...all way too small so how accurate can he be, right?) told me that he flew on a plane that Rod Thorn was on and they both predicted Eddie Griffin will fall to number 2 with Kwame Brown going first. But most of all, there was ALOT, ALOT, ALOT of buzz about Stephon Marbury saying that leaving Minnesota was a big mistake. There are alot of rumors (though most think Marburys mood changes with the wind) that Marbury might be traded. Not likely to happen but its out there. Again, this is just what I heard at the freakin party. No links. No scoops from someones other sources. This is just yapping between me and our advertising clients. Thats it. No more. No less. Just what I got from these dorks and I am posting it for ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY. Not trying to enhance my post count or anything like that. Hopefully, Clutch has heard something RESEMBLING what I just said. Then again, these guys drink when they "spill the beans" so... ------------------ Sleepless in the Bronx [This message has been edited by Almu (edited June 25, 2001).]
Thanks for the info Almu. I hope it's not true about the Rockets not moving up, because I'd be very disapointed. Maybe, instead of moving up, they'll trade some dead weight for some better players. Ahhhh, hope springs eternal. ------------------
Nice Story Almu Can you tell about the time i went roo hunting with CB Great Scoop!!!!! Now we just need the Mall boy to step and here some rocket scouts somewhere. For me there is no way NJ trades Marbury! ------------------ "The things I enjoy most, I suck at: 1) Sex: everything's fine until she makes noises." - Achebe Smegs Mock Draft
That would be rocketsfan34. That goofball better be in the malls the next couple of days getting us some scoops, too! His scoop has to be one of the coolest stories this board has ever had from a basketball standpoint. Well, at least since the middle of 1999. ------------------ "I had mine chewed off by a boss one time." -- Behad leaves us wondering if he gets hazard pay...
That is definately the coolest story on the bbs!! I can't think of any that even compare. ------------------ CC.net's most courteous driver Oh yeah, and I'm looking for a job right now, so hire me please
Awe man, more conflicting reports against my mock draft. I don't know about you guys, but I think this draft is one of the most difficult to predict in years. Last year, Kenyon Martin and Stromile Swift were a lock to go #1 and #2. The year before that, it was either Brand or Stevie going #1. But this year, I've seen about 8 different predictions for #1. On top of that, most of the mock drafts I've seen have nothing in common. But hey, it's better than always knowing who's going to be the top pick. It's actually going to be a surprise this year. ------------------
LOL and here I thought Almu was gonna tell us a story of how he "picked up" herpes or some other disease at this party ROFL ------------------ Don't EVER underestimate the Heart of a CHAMPION!
Emore, thats what i thought to when i saw the thread title, still that might have happened anyway and he's not telling Smeg ------------------ "The things I enjoy most, I suck at: 1) Sex: everything's fine until she makes noises." - Achebe Smegs Mock Draft
Come on - you guys don't seriously think rf34 he heard it in the mall do you? ------------------ God help me, ...I was only nineteen. Current Rocket's Salary & Contract Info

I'm famous!!! Wahoo... Too bad I can't access that thread...OH the memories... =( ------------------ Draftsource.net
I'm calling you out Almu. I don't think you were even at that party. You're probably just making up this whole party thing. I want to see some freaking cocktail napkins or crumpled up invites as proof. It's painfully obvious that Mall Boy is the only one with decent connections and your ego has driven you to make up stories of parties and Ad exec's. We're on to you! ------------------
A quickie on Marbury. Hold your hats and pass the cheese, but Marbury is not as solid with the Nets as most think. I would NOT take the bet that he stays in a Nets Uni this year, As a matter of fact he may not make it past the summer! ------------------
I don't remember the exact details, but apparently rocketsfan34 was at a mall buying shoes when he bumped into a guy that was apparently a scout(?). After talking with him the scout broke the news that Steve Francis was officially a Rocket. This was before any local media broke the story. If I recall, no one believed RF34 at the time. I'd rather have rocketsfan34 explain it as I know I'm leaving out details. If I remember correctly, he ran into the same scout TWO times in the mall and I think it was the SECOND time the confirmation about Francis being a Rocket was passed on. lol. Man, that was just classic. As far as I'm concerned RF34 has semi-legend status for that one post alone. rocketsfan34, give us a recap of the story because I can't find it using the search! ------------------ "I had mine chewed off by a boss one time." -- Behad leaves us wondering if he gets hazard pay...
Popeye has spoken. It almost sounded like a riddle. See what Doc Rocket has done to me. emoreland- I was thinking the same thing. ------------------ Fuggetabout it [This message has been edited by bigboymumu (edited June 25, 2001).]
Wasn't there a story with someone hearing a guy talking in a cellphone about us getting someone? I don't remember the story very well tho. Is this one it? ------------------ CC.net's most courteous driver Oh yeah, and I'm looking for a job right now, so hire me please
There is a new mock draft that was posted TODAY and is going on presently by Andy Katz. Here is the link: http://espn.go.com/nba/draft2001/s/2001/0625/1218424.html They have the Rockets taking some guy I never heard of with the first pick and Haywood with the second. They also have Kwame going first and Atlanta taking Battier. See, alcohol is good when used properly! By the way, I am listening to the radio right now and alot of Nets calls on Marbury. I think Pops/oeilpere is on the money because the word is out on Marbury. They keep saying that he is just being moody like always but one analyst made a great point. Remember that Stephon and Iverson are good friends and some think that Marbury seeing his buddy in the finals and knowing that he might be there again next year and the Nets MIGHT crack .500 is hurting that small ego of his. And God knows he is lamenting leaving Garnett. Even though the Wolves only make it to the 8th seed and a first round, its more than what Marbury will be looking at for a long time. By the way, I didn't catch anything at the party...I think. I will check next time nature calls. ------------------ Sleepless in the Bronx [This message has been edited by Almu (edited June 25, 2001).]
