    ok, sound engineer here.

If you want your recordings to be of good quality, you ABSOLUTELY must use a real microphone. I get that the money is tight for most musicians and you dont want to drop a bunch of cash on a good mic, so go ahead and use the tried and true Shure SM57

There really is no substitute for a good microphone when recording music.

btw...anyone who claims one genre of metal isnt metal because they actually sing is a moron. Screaming your vocals does not a great metal song make.

Metal is metal....we should be arguing against the generic top 40 crap, not against fellow metalheads.

I was really hoping this was a joke band, I've officially gone old man now and just say "that's just noise" but I guess looking back all Black Death metal to me sounds like Slayer's Reign in Blood (an album I've despised since I first it heard 25 years ago) I do however love early Metallica with master of puppets being the greatest metal album ever. (Not counting Appetite for Destruction or Zep IV as a metal album)

i dont listen to slayer...not really heavy enough for me.

and black metal is way different than death metal brah...way more cool and evil. especially in the vocals...black metal singers sound like demons being tortured by satan himself whilst death metal singers sound like dudes with severe cases of constipation.

Black metal is for 8th graders.

    Death metal is for adults.

    (You started it.)

I heard about Shure SM57. I am seriously considering getting it.

Do I need a perfectly quiet recording environment to be able to use it? I guess that'll be the challenge because for POD we can use direct line in so I don't have to worry about background noise.

A charitable reading is that I was making fun of myself when I wrote that, but I really don't know if that is true.

The really weird thing is that 5 years later I don't really listen to music at all. All podcasts, audiobooks, or stfu time.

Yesterday morning around 6 I was driving from Marble Falls to San Saba, and there was some seriously strange stuff up in the atmosphere. Couldn't pick up the Austin FM (50 miles away), but I could get stations out of Dallas and Laredo (250 miles away). I could get aaaaallll of the border news en espanol, plus the livestock report out of Abilene, but not the good FM stations out of Austin. Then the sun came up and everything went back to normal.

I drive with my windows down most of the time, so podcasts and books are out usually, I do like them when I'm just chilling at home.

When I drive north from Austin I usually lose their stations before Temple. The AM stations are stronger at night (technically weaker as required by FCC to avoid interference) but they travel much further at night due to bouncing off the ionosphere. I live in NE Austin and sometimes the 104.9 the horn (Sports) will be interfered with Spanish stuff early in the morning.
