he makes great plays, gets separation easily, but then misses the layup or rims out the mid range J. frustrating player to say the least but you can at least see the talent.
I think the big tell will be how lethal he can be creating in a pick and roll with Wood, Boogie, and maybe another guard. Is this someone who you can build your offense around that can get to the line, create open shots, and create a shot for himself. I think he's got a chance to prove that the next few weeks but so far, I just don't see that he's got that level of skill to be building your offense around, and banking on that being a go-to in a 7 game playoff series. So yeah the people who take it personally just really aren't looking at things from a GM perspective. They are excited about a new team, and new players they are rooting for, and only thinking about the next game. If your goal is championship contention aspirations, you have to make the hard decisions like potentially passing on resigning a really good player like Oladipo who will just be too expensive in a way that locks you out of getting that next star player to build around. But year Oladipo is a good player that is easy to root for so I get it as a fan, but as a GM, I'd be very skeptical about what I'm willing to pay him for THIS team where they are and where we all want them to go sooner rather than later.
Why is that the only thing that matters to Rockets fans the 4 games he has played for us? Vic is not the most talented player on this squad right now its Wood followed by Wall and you are telling me to look harder? It does not matter who he is playing to be able to take people off the dribble you can do that in any pickup situation. I am not saying he can't get better but since he has come back from injury (since last year) I don't see it. He is not a top shooting guard or a STAR shooting guard, he is just above average shooting guard who is also a top ten shooting guard in the league....he should not be played the MAX at all.
