Stupid DA. Dr didn't want doses to go to waste. Fired and then prosecuted by DA. Judge slammed DA. Judge Throws Out Case Against Harris County Doctor Accused Of Stealing Vaccines – Houston Public Media “The Court emphatically rejects this attempted imposition of the criminal law on the professional decisions of a physician,” read an order from the judge. However, in Gokal’s telling, the vaccines were set to go to waste, and he was following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention when he hastily reached out to qualified recipients. On Friday, Gokal's lawyer Paul Doyle said doctors had just punctured a new vial of the vaccine as the day began to wind down, starting a six-hour shelf life for the doses inside. Gokal was afraid the leftover doses would expire or be thrown in the trash, Doyle said, and so he began a search for people who met the criteria for vaccination under the state's Phase 1 plan — front-line workers, people 65 and older, and those with underlying chronic health conditions. He was eventually referred by friends and neighbors to people who qualified, most of whom were acquaintances, Doyle said. He administered the vaccine to at least eight of those people after hours, and with just 15 minutes remaining before the vaccine was set to hit its shelf life he used one last dose on his wife, who had pulmonary sarcoidosis, according to Doyle. The patients were then entered into a state database on Dec. 30, Doyle said. In a statement, Doyle said an apology from the county “will not be enough,” and that the doctor planned to file a wrongful termination lawsuit. “The agency disparaged this good public servant's name and took away his employment without cause. More must be done by those responsible to make this right,” Doyle said. “We also sincerely hope this incident doesn't deter other frontline medical personnel from doing everything they can to make sure vaccines are not wasted.” Harris County DA Kim Ogg’s office did not respond to a request for comment.
There are currently over 400,000 dead in the US, with 600,000 likely in a month or two... Here's a thought experiment: Wyoming The smallest state by population is Wyoming, with fewer than 600,000 residents and a negative growth rate of almost 1% per year.
Nobody likes Cuomo anyway but I guess that's what you have left after Trump got ****stomped and Q Prophecy was - shockingly - not totally on the up & up. Suck it up buttercup. F your feelings.
Yeesh...CNN's op/ed spiked the bp... She's not a politician. I do think she held off the Scott Atlases for a teeny bit, but she bit off more than she could chew and had her own rep sucked bone dry. That NYT piece 6 months ago that made Pelosi call for her resignation was not pretty as well. I think she wanted cred and mistook personal relationships with Pence and evading Trump's Eye of wrath as having that clout. When did she think Trump didn't GAF about the virus or the people infected? 2 months in? May when her charts and data projections were proven wrong? Noticed it was all the female journos doing the beatdown..
And HHS took action yesterday. Training is still needed, but with it standardized and with liability immunity, it should be easier to get these folks to admin shots. HHS Amends PREP Act Declaration to Increase Workforce Authorized to Administer COVID-19 Vaccines | HHS.gov Authorizes any healthcare provider who is licensed or certified in a state to prescribe, dispense, and/or administer COVID-19 vaccines in any other state or U.S. territory. Authorizes any physician, registered nurse, or practical nurse whose license or certification expired within the past five years to prescribe, dispense and/or administer COVID-19 vaccines in any state or U.S. territory so long as the license or certification was active and in good standing prior to the date it went inactive. Requires any healthcare professional described above to complete Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) COVID-19 Vaccine Training and, for healthcare providers who are not currently practicing or whose license or certification is expired, requires an on-site observation period by a currently practicing healthcare professional. Under the PREP Act and the Declaration, a qualified person is a covered person. Subject to certain limitations, a covered person is immune from suit and liability under federal and state law with respect to all claims for loss resulting from the administration or use of a covered countermeasure if a declaration under the PREP Act has been issued with respect to such countermeasure. Why is HHS expanding the size of COVID-19 vaccinators across state lines? Working with state and territorial health departments, the Acting Secretary identified an urgent need to expand the pool of COVID-19 vaccinators to help increase access to COVID-19 vaccinations. This will help states and U.S. territories meet the demand for vaccines and protect their communities as quickly as possible. Does this action preempt state and local restrictions on which providers are authorized to administer a COVID-19 vaccine? If a person is authorized under the Declaration to administer covered countermeasures, including a COVID-19 vaccine, any state law that prohibits or effectively prohibits such a person from doing so is preempted.
She’s one of the individuals most culpable. It was baffling to any physician how you could turn a blind eye to the politicization of something killing so many. Honestly, she has as much blame to take as trump considering it was obvious how much misinformation /mishandling was going on. It was for the sole reason of her career/skin off her back. this apology tour is embarrassing
This article makes great points in general. Flattening the Curve was an emergency brake until we came up with newer measures in safety (did happen...wasn't universally adopted/trusted). There were always questions when those infection curve charts were presented...what happens in the dates after the chart? Unfortunately people have taken any measure as a civil rights violation from the ethically dubious app tracking that Asian countries employ to the sensible masking policies that ensure near zero transmissions when everyone does it. Having vaccines in production is a modern marvel. No doubt if we had cheap and fast testing, there wouldn't be a pressing need to continue these exhaustive shutdowns. We're pretty much going through human nature with an individualistic mindset. This reminds me of fad diets where starving practitioners lose their will and bust out with AYCE buffets. Why months of 'Stay Home' messaging didn’t work in Ontario The COVID messaging contained a preponderance of confusing and unhelpful information, known in common parlance as BS. The results were disastrous.
It's disgusting to feed people lies or deceive them, yet this appalling and dangerous tactic has become the Mantra of the GOP. You betcha those selfish Maskless morons got their vaccinations and daily Covid testing though. It's just like here in Texas. You NEVER hear any of our GOP leaders voice warnings and concern about how bad it is. They want you to think it's going away and we are through this. A friend of my Mom's had said it's a lot better now, and I imagine many feel this false sense of security. Even the news has fluffed over it a bit. The fact is our 7 day daily death ave July 2nd was 40 a day, and Feb 2nd was 314 a day. That's a huge difference, yet people think it's going away. All they talk about now is vaccines, like we are tackling Covid. Nope, it's a snail's pace, and thousands of people over 80 haven't even been vaccinated here. Meanwhile, the spread continues and the gullible think it's safer to get out and socialize more now.
