I agree that that there are more trades on the way, or at least there should be especially if we can rely on Stone's own words that more roster additions will be made by trade deadline. Wood is Rockets current best player and potential future franchise player. Rockets rebuild is centered around Wood. Tate, Sterling, Nwaba, Mase, Porter and KJ are the core role players and should be Rockets for the relatively long haul. Tucker and BMac are FRP bait. Wall, EGo and House probably need another season to rehab their values before being traded for positive assets. Exum is expiring contract and future cap space. Kurucs is a place holder unless he improves enough to be valuable rotation fit for team or another trade asset. Boogie is likely a 1 year rental unless he is good with returning on a vet min. Oladipo is the wild card, Stone has to evaluate whether he is still talented enough and a fit to be future franchise player alongside Wood or if not when to trade him at his peak value.
The thing is, people think we have James Harden. The likelihood that Wood, Oladipo and Wall average 34 minutes and play most of the games is laughable. There will be plenty of minutes to go around.
#Truth CF needs to understand that Rockets will be resting their best players often. Harden spoiled Rockets Nation with his durability in addition to his historic production.
I think we are in agreement. Forgot about Kurucs and K Porter. Good if the Rockets could convince Oladipo to take the Max of $25M with us. Porter and Mason as side kicks. Ship Wall out and his $44M next year......anywhere. I disagree on Tucker/McLemore bringing us back FRP.. Second round picks, yes.
I know what you mean. It’s more about the severity of the Achilles injury. It’s been know to end careers. More important for the guards that are required to move laterally and change of direction quickly. But yes, Wall is more of a purest at point guard than Oladipo.
This is the reason why Wood deserves to start at the 5 over Boogie. And this proves that Nwaba is not just better than Tate defensively (#1 on Rockets), he is also more efficient offensively. Sterling Brown has quietly been Rockets 4th most efficient defender.
we have too many wings and ben mac's defense doeesn't cut it. we can have mason jones replace his shooting. house has reached his ceiling. nwaba, tate, sterling brown are all better than him, and now we have kevin porter junior who is better than house and ben mac. we simply don't have any time left for them, so we might as well get something for them. they can fetch at least a second rounder a piece, so ship them off. we're not going anywhere with those two.
You should def trying to play everyone under 30. Wood is the only one that is not injury prone. Get Mason Jones starter mins. Gordon can come in and out for him. Wood needs to be up around 40 mins a game. Wall and Cousins cant be overloaded, because they be on the bench missing games.
With this deep of a team, I personally would like to see what happens if Silas rotates our bench players, keeping them fresh to play that same kind of defensive intensity you see in the final minute of game sevens in the finals. It’s so strange to feel like I’m watching an entirely different sport in that final minute, simply because everyone’s turned up the intensity. I don’t think any NBA team is conditioned to handle that kind of defensive for an entire fourth quarter, at least, but I know our team has the capacity to dish it. Anyway, just a fun thought.
I'd like to see PJ playing about 24-28 minutes a game. Keeps him fresh and he'll likely have same impact as trying to play him longer. This will also hopefully increase his trade value as he won't be so worn out before he's dealt. Let some of the younger folks get some run.
I remember having these conversations back in teh Steve Francis-McGrady-Yao days- how do we fit all of our depth on the court at once! Where are Steve Novak's minutes going to come from! How do we play both Bonzi Wells AND Kirk Snyder! Moochie needs minutes! In reality, we had a bunch of mediocre to average role players who were about the same level, and it created the illusion of depth. This season will look even more deep due to COVID absences.
Wall - 32 / Jones - 16 Oladipo - 30 / Gordon - 24 Tate - 10 / Brown - 20 / Nwaba - 18 Tucker - 20 / Tate - 12 / Wood - 6 Wood - 24 / Cousins - 28
