He played 19 games last season plus 4 games in the playoffs. I don't see a lot of consistency since his major injury to get an accurate view. But I still don't want to sign him.
I do wonder if we can trade Oladipo for Aaron Gordon. He's just not part of our future imo. I'd happily throw in House. Wood Cousins Tucker Gordon Tate Gordon Nwaba Wall Exum That's a defensive lock down lineup. (apart from the Cs I guess) With spacing & Shot creation. Gordon I don't think has played with so much spacing before.
if we were able to bag a trade of oladipo for MPJ that would be ideal, w/ 2 Porter Jr.'s on the court but if not then i'll gladly settle for 2 Gordon's
If he could shoot like CJ McCollum I would want him to stay. I agree on the needed reality check about being the star. I guess he's auditioning though.
He's a great player that could really help a contender. I just don't see how re-signing him helps us get closer to where we want to be over the next 3-5 years.
Lol dude literally played 4 games and had 32 his first game fresh off the plane. be patient and look harder....revisit this thread in 10 games
I’m with you @jiggyfly but I do think he’s a “good” player. Just not a player you want to give big money to in order to be your star player you build around. The front office needs to worry about assets and getting good young players on good contracts like Christian Wood if you can find them in free agency. Be the team that finds Chandler Parsons... not the one who pays him. Glad they are taking a chance on him though in this scenario to see if he can expand his game for a few months. Worth a shot. But yeah so far he’s not a guy I see with the ability to build your offense around. I’d give him around the same deal Gordon has. That’s about it. Doubt he’ll take it and we are likely losing him this Summer for nothing but honestly we never did the deal for Dipo long term anyways. It was always about the picks.
Orlando do not want him they want young players and picks and we would not sign a contract with Orlando anyway
You are not missing anything. He is an expiring contract and a gamble. If he sucks its ok, if he is good its ok. That was considered from the start.
Orlando wants young players and picks for the past 15 years. They might want to sprinkle in some vet talent.
Well he understands that if he has 3 7'4 guys right over his head not to lay it up but to pass. Gordon isn't even a pass 3'rd guard.
Olapido is presently a neutral to positive asset. The rockets need to showcase his health/abilities and wait till the trade deadline in hopes some playoff pretender/contender want to make a move. Ideally they can get back draft picks or some young talent. If they fail to move him, they should only resign him at a non max contract with the intent to move him. Oladipo simply doesn't fit their timeline and isn't good enough to delay thier rebuild.
Passing (last night was not indicative of his usual ability). And steals. And maybe rebounding. But EGo is more efficient scorer and better overall defender IMO.
